Best pack by the best brand

Traveled for 17 days in Europe. Bouncing around from place to place. Backpacked in Colorado for 2 weeks. Any adventure this is the pack for you. Would not do any long trip without this pack. And from now on I am only buying osprey.

I would buy this pack again

I seldom write reviews and see far too many where the person reviewing has not used the product yet. I have owned 8 different Osprey packs and have really liked most of them. I have been backpacking for 60 years and have had all styles and brands of packs. The only Osprey pack I didn't like was the Exos 58, but it was because I tend to carry heavier loads and the pack did not fit ""me"" well. Not really a fault of the pack. I recently purchased an Aether 70 plus and am really impressed with it. My previous favorite was the Atmos 65, but the Aether is better in my opinion. The Aether has a lot of adjustability and carries heavier loads well. I been on two trips recently with weights of 30 and 40 lbs. I thought the pack supported those weights really well. I have to call bs on people who claim that whatever pack they were using carried heavy weights like a dream. 30 and 40 pound packs are heavy and you will feel it, but I feel like the Aether is the best i've used for heavier loads. I'm not and ultra light backpacker and don't do 20 plus miles a day so the fact that the Aether is a bit heavy doesn't bother me. I like to be comfortable and warm when backpacking so I bring some extra items, but I try to go as light as I can. If you are in the market for this type of pack I highly recommend the Aether 70 plus.

On the heavier side but tons of features

Size Bought:

I bought this to supplement my ~2011 Osprey Atmos which is still going strong. I needed a bigger bag to haul gear for children who are almost old enough for their first overnight trip. I went with this model because I wanted the daylite lid daypack. I followed the sizing guide and fit instructions on Osprey?s site and got a great fit. This thing is considerably heavier than my Atmos but also has a higher carry weight range which is something I needed. I love the zipper access to the main compartment and the sleeping bag compartment. All of the features on my old Atmos are here, so if you?re familiar with Osprey packs, all of the attachments points, pockets, and compression straps should be similar. The fit is MUCH more comfortable than my old Atmos, but the back panel is slightly warmer than the suspended mesh panel of the Atmos. I have only carried it weighted around the house. I?ll update after used backpacking.

Best fit!

I have used various Osprey packs (and others brands) for years. The Osprey has always impressed me. Just purchased the Aether Plus 70 for backcountry search and rescue. The pack fits great and the range of adjustment is one of the best new Osprey features from previous designs. The fit sizing chart provides a good starting point to get the right pack size and then just adjust the pack from there. I have a large upper body (and not in the best shape of my life!) and this pack hugged my back, fit great, and felt like it wasn't even there with 30 lbs. in it. The only minor con is the internal reservoir when used with a full 3 litter Osprey reservoir (the older design that has the handle going down the middle) does take up significant room and takes some finesse to refill when you have a full pack pushing on it. I will try different reservoirs to find the best fit. The internal reservoir however is better than the external reservoir pocket on my Zenith 105 Osprey pack that pushes into my back when full. This pack isn't the lightest on the market and for me that is a plus. It has solid construction and from my previous Osprey pack experience, I anticipate it will last and perform for the rest of my backpacking life! I highly recommend this pack for long weekend backpacking as well as mountaineering.

First and last backpack

I purchased the 85L version in November of 2020 Have used it on 4 weekend outing. Carried it on a 5 mile, 10, and 16 mile day hike. Average weight with all water and food and gear was 50 lbs. It didn't slow me down. I out paced 3 other adults in my group while helping 8 teenage boys prepare for Philmont. I love my pack. I'm still learning the intricacies of backpacking and don't own most of what's required. I look forward to many more weekends out away from civilization
