I only had the opportunity
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I only had the opportunity to use my Aether Plus 85 once. And it was a short walk. It fits nicely, and all the exterior pockets are super handy. I’m looking forward to getting out on a 3-4 day excursion with it.

Love this pack. I am
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love this pack. I am an adventure guide. I need space for all my gear, extra gear for clients and lots of safety stuff too. This pack keeps it all organized for me. The design features are some of the best I have been able to appreciate, including the wrap around hip belt, mesh back and many pockets to keep items organized. I tell clients and friends Osprey is my go to backpack for lots of reasons.

Great Pack
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Needed a larger pack now that my family is backpacking with a toddler carrier as the other pack. This pack carried all our gear for two adults and a 2yr old. 55lbs felt the same as a smaller pack. TONS of storage, was able to fit all our gear even with a rigid bear can.

Great load hauler
This is a really good pack, I've been using the prior version for 3 years now. It's a load hauler and is barely showing any wear after at least 40 days of use. The sweet spot for load is 30-60 lbs. After that I feel the shoulder straps need more padding. I think the feature list could be cut down - the bottom sleeping bag compartment is just a silly remnant from the 90's - who actually uses them? There is actually abrasion on the fabric from the zipper coils pressing through where it would not be if the zipper was not there. It just adds weight when most people will use a garbage bag pack liner anyway. The convertible lid backpack is functional... but adds significant weight if you don't actually need the daypack. An 11-12oz lid is heavy for a simple pocket. Luckily the pack has a nice flap for using it without the lid. The 2 rear straps that go over the mesh pocket could be longer, and the top 3rd compression strap removed. All in all, it's a great pack, but they could lighten and simply it with out detracting anything.

Surprised by the functionality
My wife and I just had our first child and we are also in the midst of working on two separate guidebooks. I purchased this pack to help me complete the more backpacking intensive ""Hiking Wyoming"". Now that I am carrying my gear, our Childs gear, and extra camera gear I needed a pack that could hold up to the challenge. The Aether Plus 85 has been a great pack so far. I took it on an absolute brute bushwhack through deadfall and and a half frozen marsh. I was pleasantly surprised how stable to pack felt and how well it carried weight all loaded down. Love the DayLid feature as well as trekking pole attachment. This thing is made well and has already help up to much abuse.
