Needs Work
Zippers are awful, tough to move them and I feel like if I apply anymore force I’ll break them. External cargo straps are awkward and need to be undone to unzip the main compartment. Buckles on load relief straps constantly fall out of the loops - I have to reinsert them every time I put the pack back on. All the pockets share the same internal volume, so if the main compartment is full, it makes it very challenging to get any use out the pockets.

Needs work
Material is solid, seems real durable. Front cargo straps are awkward and preclude fully unzipping the main compartment. Zippers are awful, truly awful. I’ve had it for a few months and they have not gotten any better. Load relief straps/plastic buckle is constantly slipping out of the loop, becoming a serious nuisance - this could easily be remedied with a different buckle.

I’ve been buying Osprey packs since 1989, while I was a student at UC Santa Cruz—and the packs were made in SC. I’ve probably owned over 30 Osprey packs over the years. However, I’ve been incredibly disappointed in their designs in the past few years. The Archeon 40 is yet another example of the decline of Osprey. The material is ridiculously thick and unmanageable. I don’t know why they would use this material, since it’s just a travel bag. It’s not meant for drastic conditions. Secondly, the zippers are so tight that you can’t hardly open and close them. In short, I would absolutely not recommend this pack. Honestly, I can’t believe this pack even passed their design and use inspections.

Love the bag, the zippers
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the bag, the zippers are a little tight, and already lost the top zipper puller. Apart from that good and robust

New Favorite Carry-On
I just got this pack and used it for a long weekend in Seattle. It completely exceeded my expectations and the fabric is perfect for those rainy PNW days. This might be my new favorite carry-on travel pack.
