Why We Like The Osprey Downburst 36L Backpack
When dark clouds gather over the horizon while we're hiking long trails, the Osprey Downburst 36L Backpack keeps us from having to turn back to the parking lot in a hurry. The IPX5 waterproof main compartment keeps our cargo protected from heavy showers, and the quick-drying external materials don't take long to follow suit once the sun starts shining again. The 36-liter capacity holds plenty of gear for long day hikes, and the front compression pocket keeps extra layers easily accessible while we're on the go.

No Such Thing as Bad Weather, Only Bad Equipment
I spent a lot of time hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and let me tell you, it's wet. Very wet. We get 9 months of rain here, and sometimes you practically have to swim to work. Having the appropriate gear which enables your to comfortably enjoy the great PNW year-round was life changing. Downburst helps you hang in what weather you would expect from the name. When you can rest assured that all your important supplies are as dry as the desert you can really cut loose! And let me tell you, walking the wild forests beneath the pouring rain is a primal and beautiful experience. Doing it dry, warm, and comfortable feels like an unbelievable privilege. Sometimes a raincover doesn't cut it, and your suspension system will get soaked even with the best of raincovers. Do yourself a favor and invest into an all around waterproof pack! Beyond all this, Osprey is pushing the industry boundaries for waterproofing technology, and they are doing it with sustainable and safe chemistry in mind. If you live in a wet area, there is no other pack I would recommend.
