Why We Like The Exos 38L Backpack

Osprey created the Exos 38 Backpack with a lightweight yet sturdy aluminum frame and the ultralight AirSpeed suspension system so we can transfer slightly larger loads than other minimalist packs. The mesh back panel and ExoForm harness provide comfort under the straps and help circulate air to improve evaporative cooling, so we can comfortably spend extended periods of time with the pack on.

Thank you for replacing my

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thank you for replacing my old Exos 38 with this new one! I am a big fan of your company and tout it to all the members of my large hiking club. I really like the setup on this pack for the hydration bladder. The sleeve inside the main pack compartment is WAY easier to use than some of the other Osprey packs I have. I also love the 2-way side mesh pocket configuration--very user friendly.

Happy with purchase. Very comfortable and lightweight to wear on my long hikes. Very well built. A negative would be wish lid were easier to remove.

Excellent light midsize pack

I received the Exos 38 as a warranty replacement for my prior favorite pack, an old airspeed-framed Atmos 35 (props to Osprey on that great product that lasted many years and many hikes, and on their great warranty coverage). At first, I struggled on fit and functionality - the Atmos worked with minimal adjustment from the get go, and I just couldn't quite get the Exos right - but once I figured out the numerous adjustment points and ways of configuring the Exos 38, it suddenly clicked in terms of fit, functionality, comfort, and ability to the equipment needed for 1-2 night overnighters (or long day-hikes, given how light this pack is). So my main advice is, take the time to test your configuration of this pack under a load before you take it into the backcountry; if you do, I think you'll be very pleased with it's performance. It is my go-to midsize pack, and I like it so much I later bought an Exos 58 that is now my primary multi-night pack.

Love this pack

Perfect for 1-4 nites. If only 1 night there are plenty of ways to cinch down, but quickly and easily expand to fit 3-4 nites. For ultralight travelers, this could work for even longer treks.
