Best pack on the market for a combo of travel & backpacking
Having worked in the outdoor retail industry, I've kept my eye on travel bags for sometime. This is the only pack I've found that can deliver on what I need for traveling. My international travel typically involves considerable hiking or backpacking, and my equipment needs to be portable, durable, and versatile. If you need a pack that can be safely checked on an airplane, has a robust suspension system, is highly adjustable, includes a rain cover (it fits fine), that is super comfortable, is easy to pack, and that can handle a few days of backpacking, this is a winner. Because it doesn't have tons of pockets, I have found it works best to have packing cubes and other organizing sacks in the pack. I truly love this pack and have considered buying the 70L version. Well done, Osprey. It's surprising to me that more people don't know about this pack.

Great bag for international travel
I bought this bag for a 9 day international trip to Norway. I used the bag as a carryon with no problems. It fit everything I needed it to, including camping gear. We did not do any long hiking but I did buy it with that in mind. The straps were adjustable and comfortable. I think this bag is great for the dual purpose of large travel and hiking. The main reason I got this bag was the way it easily opens the large pocket. If I was strictly hiking I would go for a bag with more pockets and straps.

Nice bag but...
Very nice bag. Easy to adjust and comfortable. The only thing that is wrong is the rain cover. It is design to be both airplane transporter (you put in bag in it, zip it, and check your bag) and rain cover. However, the rain cover does not fit tightly around the bag. Therefore, bag is not protecteur at all during rain storms. I regret buying the bag.

First, this pack has a movable back plate so that you can adjust the size for a perfect fit. I can hardly tell I'm wearing it! I have packed this bag 2 or three times to see just how much I can fit for my 3 month trip overseas next fall through Christmas This is exactly the bag I have been waiting for. The color is not red, it's more of a copper. It's pretty, but not as pretty as the purple which I was never able to get except in the 7OL which is entirely too big! There are pockets galore, and lots of hidden and a few hidden ones for valuables. Can't say it enough I love this bag.
