One Flaw

I wanted to love this but ended up returning for one flaw. On the inside of the bag, the handle housing leaves a huge hump on the inside of the bag where the handle collapses into. So when you're packing the suitcase, you have like deeper spots on the sides and then a huge hump in the middle. It makes it cumbersome and takes up room while packing. I did a mock pack up and had to put shoes on the outsides and then shorts on the middle to avoid the hump. I wish Osprey could make a lay flat handle housing so you would have more room. If it wasn't for this design flaw, it would have been a keeper.

Perfect!

There are very few options for a carry on back pack and this one is just right! I use compression bags as well to really keep my things organized and fit into this so I have no need to check bags any longer. I also really appreciate the strap buckle attachments so I can attach another day pack on the front. Awesome and thank you for this pack!

Versatile carry on

Purchased from an Osprey dealer. Use for snowboard trips. Have 2 big gear bags to check in and switch to a roller after check in. I've had a few backpack rollers and there needs to be an expectation you will lose a little volume with the backpack feature. Pros: lightweight, storage space is maximized, squared off, robustly built, backpack shoulder strap and belt comfortable and well built, sternum strap, like the frame, easy to roll and pull. There is no laptop sleeve, but look at that as a positive. Last backpack roller, laptop compartment consumed so much volume, had to cut it out. Took on a snowboard trip to Japan and worked great. After past roller backpacks, decided to pay for quality, researched a lot of these. I also bought the Farpoint Travel Daypack to piggy back on if I needed a more volume. Can piggy back or wear, clip onto your chest. Worked out great with my check in luggage overflow. Only con, which is minor, is maybe some external pockets to put small things or documents in. Still a bit fuzzy on the difference between the Farpoint (for men) versus the Fairview (for women) models.

Great wheeled backpack carry on bag

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Height:
5' 9"
Weight:
185

On snowboard trips, I want to wheel my carry-on after checking in my 2 luggage. Use only once on a snowboard trip to Niseko. When picking up luggage, go back to backpack mode. Ditched my Burton wheeled backpack, too small, will clarify. I did quite bit of research, not my first wheeled backpack carry-on. Firstly, don't expect a wheeled backpack carry-on to have the same volume as non backpack. Because of the backpack feature, you will lose a little volume, but there are countermeasures. Don't get a backpack feature if you are going to complain about volume. Apparently the Farpoint is for men and Fairview for women. Confused at first, and can't seem to see any spec differences. ?? I'd add pics but BC and Osprey pics and vids are really good. Pro's: 1. Osprey squared off the bag as much as possible to squeeze out the 36L volume. There is not a padded slot for a laptop, which is a positive for me, but there is a big zippered mesh pocket on the front. My last bag had a padded laptop slot which consumed so much volume. With the robust handle and backpack straps, the volume works for me. To give me more volume if needed, I also bought the Farpoint Travel Daypack, got a deal. 15L of more space and marries perfectly with this. Can be strapped, piggy backed, or it can be clipped onto the shoulder straps and carried on your chest/belly. The Daypack has a padded slot for hydration or laptop if still looking for a padded laptop slot. 2. Surprising lightweight yet robustly built. Aluminum frame gives is great strength. Tow handle works great. Sturdy, does not collapse. Convenient top and side handle. Big wheels with sealed bearings. 3. Backpack functions were not skimped on. Not only shoulder straps, but belt strap as well. Also has a sternum strap. Features I was looking for. When researching, lots of complaints about the wheels making clothes dirty. The belt acts as a barrier to prevent this. Backpack straps pack away neatly. Wearing as a backpack, comfortable and sturdy. Some products just throw backpack straps on to give it the feature. 4. Useful top pocket. Front mesh pockets, which I haven't used, can't give good feedback whether they hold drinks well. 5. Infernal compression straps are a good feature. External straps are really good for attachments, sweater, etc. 6. Zipper pulls are nice. Cons: 1. A bit pricey, but supposedly manufacturer lifetime warranty. I'm under the impression Osprey backs there product which helped on the decision. There are cheaper products out there, but I decided to pay for quality. 2. Some side of front zipper pockets would be nice, to slip small items, or documents. 3. Got a bit of a price break as a BC member, stock seems low everywhere on this item. Kinda stalked this. Happy with purchase and product, per my explained requirments.
