Why We Like The Osprey Soelden Pro Avy 32L Airbag Backpack
The Osprey Soelden Pro Avy 32L Airbag Backpack is lighter and more comfortable than the original, so we can stay out in the backcountry longer. The Soelden Pro is Osprey's premier ski pack, and Alpride E2 is the leading electronic airbag in terms of lightness and reliability. Put the two together, and we get Osprey's Soelden Pro Avy Airbag 32L Backpack. It's a combination of safety features in a backcountry-built backpack to keep us completely comfortable for a tour into backcountry terrain. The Alpride E2 can charge via two AA batteries in 40 minutes, or even faster via USB. There are LED indicators to show us when the system needs a recharge, and it's completely removable when we're skiing in avalanche-controlled terrain.

Overall good pack
This will be the second full season running this pack. By and large, I enjoy it. I think the pack is well constructed and the airbag system is reliable. My biggest complaints is the adjustability of the waist, however looking at it from a safety perspective, it makes sense. In that area though, a large improvement could be made by having a larger center buckle that can more easily be manipulated with gloves on. It would also be great to see this made in a larger size, as splitboarding and snowmobiling are gear intensive and packing for either does become a bit tetris-y to get everything to fit. But overall, I really enjoy this bag and think that it serves it's purpose well.

Avy zipper opens - poor zipper quality
After 2 seasons the Soelden 32 avy bag is now useless. Regardless of how much or how little I pack into the interior space, the zipper that holds in the avy balloon itself continuously splits open. This zipper is designed to open when the avy balloon inflates…but it comes open regularly throughout the day. Time to find another bag unless Osprey does a zipper redesign.
