Why We Like The Osprey Sojourn Porter 46L Pack

Built for the rigors of international traveling, the Osprey Sojourn Porter 46L backpack features high-tenacity and ballistic materials to stand up to abuse on our flights, safaris, penny cab rides, and jeep tours. This carry-on-sized backpack features a large, clamshell opening for easy access to our belongings, which pack in safely, thanks to the bag's padded sidewalls, compression straps, and mesh interior pockets. The middle-sized backpack in the Sojourn Porter line also features the Airscape back panel from Osprey's hiking packs along with a tuckaway waist belt, sternum strap, and shoulder straps to carry our belongings comfortably when we're on foot.

Unbelievable bag. Going with Osprey

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unbelievable bag. Going with Osprey years ago was one of the best decisions for all my travels.

Maybe the best backpack I’ve ever owned

I bought this bag years ago to carry camera gear inside of camera cubes. It worked great for that purpose but then in 2023/24 I spent 6 months traveling around Southeast Asia and Europe with just this bag. It’s held up incredibly well, fits everything I need, looks inconspicuous (I didn’t want to be carrying around an expensive/flashy looking bag), and is as comfortable as I need it to be since I am not hiking or walking tons of miles with it. Paired with a small sling that I use as a day bag I could travel for any amount of time and fit everything I need. There’s never going to be a *perfect* bag but this is as close as it can get for me.

The right amount of organizational

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The right amount of organizational pockets. Enjoy the external water bottle pocket. Pack material is very good quality. Comfort of the Fairpoint carry straps is far superior. These seem cheap in comparison.

I used the Porter 30

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Porter 30 for many years but wanted something just a bit larger to hold more travel gear. The 46L version offers just what I wanted in a travel bag, all the same features, pockets and comfort as the smaller version. Works great!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It’s great, I love the changes. The side pouch for water bottles is awesome, I am a little worried about the plastic buckles, they are smaller and thinner than the old ones since I broke a buckle on the old Porter and they were thicker. Time will tell

3rd bag

Familiarity:
I gave it as a gift but have feedback to share
Size Bought:
46L

So. I have not had a chance to use this particular bag. I have two older models and they have held up VERY well over…maybe a decade? 8 years? Fits under seats if no overhead space. Belts redistribute weight great. We are not particularly gentle with our bags and no breakdown. Has gone on overseas and multiple 2 week trips. Holds a lot. I purchased this as a gift for my daughter. We had matching colors. Her friends borrow my bag. Needed another. Originals are doing great. The size of this bag looks identical. The quality looks perhaps even better, seams and zippers feel/look more durable. They did change one compartment and the fabric is different, not the tough fabric used externally/east of the bag. I am curious why they changed, potentially it could break down/get torn. A few pockets were tweaked and it seems to be a plus. Water bottle/side stuff pockets are new and I like. Comparing to the original, I am confident it is comparable and will be a durable and versatile as the original.

Great Backpack!!!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Took this to Korea and it worked out great! I would recommend this pack for international travel if you can get everything in 46L. I also took a small Osprey daypack for when I left the Sojourn Porter in the room.

Excellent Backpack for Our Journey

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought this to use on our 3 week trip to Switzerland and Germany and it was a great choice. Easy to pack with all the clothes and necessary items. The bag felt great on my back while walking through train stations, cities or anywhere else.

Traveled Italy with me

I used this pack during a three week stay in Europe. I loved how the straps tuck away for flights and that the pack easily compresses down when not full. Will be using again for the Camino de Santiago.
