Why We Like The Osprey Sojourn Shuttle 45L Bag
The Osprey Sojourn Shuttle 45L Bag keeps our expeditions rolling smoothly along, no matter our destination. The StraightJacket compression system keeps the contents of our bags secure and adds extra protection to keep our gear safe against rough handling. The lightweight HighRoad chassis gives us clearance over bumps and ruts in the road and provides a solid structure to support heavy loads wherever we go. The tough nylon fabrics are treated with a PFAS-free DWR to shed moisture, so no matter what we're hauling, we can be sure it'll arrive in mint condition.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great design - rugged and also streamlined. Love the extra compartment on the backside and the compression straps so you can "make it fit!" The green color is great and helps it stand out from the crowd on the luggage carousel. Another thoughtful and well-made design from Osprey!

Osprey’s warrantee is fabulous
After 20+ years with a prior model, the plastic piece that held it upright when standing broke. Since Osprey no longer makes it that way (much improved stand incorporated in a single piece across the bottom of the bag which also connects the wheels), they didn’t have a replacement part, so they gave me a brand new bag! It has all the pockets I loved about my other suitcase, plus it cinches down with these padded wings that protect the contents. The handle is the only thing I don’t like. I’ve had surgery on my thumb, and it hurts to grip the handle as tight as needed to raise it up. Overall, a solid product, though, and pretty amazing that the warrantee is lifetime!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Generally like the duffel a lot. Only complaint: the handle rises to the fully extended position only about 1/2 the time.

Solid performer with one small drawback
I really like the Sojourn 45L. Materials are great, and I personally like that this is NOT a spinner. I've had spinners and have never pulled a carry on using all four wheels; I typically tilt and pull and this bag works perfect for that. Zippers are heavy enough and pull tabs are fantastic. The fact that they are backed by a lifetime guarantee makes it even better. If a zipper were to fail here, you have two layers of straps to hold your items and bag cover in place. So much better than standard luggage design where its one point of failure and your stuff is everywhere. Pockets and zippers are well thought out and the pockets are on the inside which I like. External pockets adds to the possibility of more zipper snags and issues- not something to need to worry about with this design. It has nice sized wheels that roll easy. The wheels themselves are easily changeable if they were to ever wear out by using a hex wrench. The size is good for a few days to a week for how I pack and layout overall works great. While this is bag is technically slightly bigger than the domestic size of what many airlines would like, I've not had any problems getting this through TSA or issues on flights, whether on smaller planes where luggage has to lay on its back (yes, it fits wheels in), or on flights with big enough overhead to be able to put it onto its side. The bag stands on its own easily, even with a backpack sitting on top of it, provided you have enough volume of stuff in the bag to give it some form. The only thing I didn't like about this bag is the handle. Its made to squeeze two pieces of the handle together to release the handle lock. There is a space in between the two pieces that you can pinch a finger in it if you are not paying attention. It got me and I got a blood blister from it, so you do have to be mindful when you use it and a good pinch will certainly help you remember. Secondarily, it's not the most ergonomically comfortable handle if you have to pull it long distances. The handle alone is not a a big enough deal that you should look at something else, but something to be aware of. I took one star off for the handle design. It makes the bag not quite perfect, but very good overall. I expect this bag will last many, many years and the fact that it's backed by Osprey and their guarantee adds a layer of comfort. I have no hesitation recommending this to you as a solid option for your consideration.
