Why We Like The Stratos 34L Backpack
With the Osprey Stratos 34 Backpack, we're ready for any mountainous adventure whether it's hiking, climbing, or backpacking for a night. This pack fits all the gear we need for a day at the crag, food and snacks for a full day hike, or even the necessary equipment to spend a night out in the woods.
We particularly like how this pack's LightWire alloy frame optimizes our load's balance as well as enhances the ventilation system with the help of the AirSpeed back panel. Add that to the sewn-in spacer mesh at both the waist-belt and the shoulder straps, and we're ready to tackle anything in the mountains without a sweat.

Great pack! Easily adjusted for
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great pack! Easily adjusted for good fit. Intended use was for 25 - 30 lbs of gear and it delivered. Several day long excursions later and very pleased with the pack. Only complaint is with the hip belt pockets - easy to open one handed but nearly impossible to close completely one handed. One of the most well-thought-out
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] One of the most well-thought-out designed and functional bags I have for short weekend camping. It has plenty of easy-to-find pockets and access to the main chamber. It has good small pockets, which are very comfortable to wear with plenty of adjustments to make carrying the bag while hiking as effortless as possible. Smart bag great name brand with an amazing lifelong guarantee on their products. I look forward to using this bag for many years to come! Thanks for being a bright star in my hiking gear choices.

Some fiddly bits, but versatile
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- One size for 34 liters
I bought this bag to switch from dedicated camera backpacks to an ergonomics-first pack for use carrying camera gear or whatever else. The capacity is ample. The hydration sleeve is not usually available on camera packs. I keep my "everyhike" stuff in the lower compartment and use the upper compartment for whatever I'm doing (camera, drone, warm clothes, food, etc.). The accessory pockets are the awkward bits, sacrificed for weight and streamlining, I suspect. But the weird clip for the upper compression straps that everyone complains about on YouTube reviews are not there anymore they must have revised them in the update. Everything works well now. (Be prepared to make your own strap keepers! They are long!)

Doesn't function as well as the Kestrel 38, not even close.
I ended up walking the Camino Frances across Spain from France with this bag. It was just OK. I used it because I wanted to not use a check bag and only have a carry on. The front pocket is virtually useless when the main compartment is full. The shoulder straps are a bit too narrow. The waste belt is too thin and the side pockets are small and hard to zip shut when wearing the pack. I made it work but, I wish I had chosen something else.

Very nice and comfortable pack

I bought this pack as a replacement for my Gregory Stout 45L which was just too big for most of what I do. This pack was a perfect replacement. Size is exactly what I needed for my day hikes. After some pretty serious hiking in Tennessee I can say this pack was extremely comfortable and stayed in place no matter what obstacles I encountered. My only complaint would be the waist belt pockets. I wish they were more like the ones on my Gregory. For one they are almost impossible to zig closed with one hand. You have to contort yourself to get two hands in place to zip them. Secondly they are sort of small. Otherwise this pack is the bomb. I am very happy with this purchase.

Great pack!
I bought one of these for a supported multi day trekking trip. We stopped at riokans (like a B&B) along the way but only got access to our large luggage every couple days, so we had to carry a couple days' clothes, enough extra layers, toiletries and personal gear, water of course, and frequently lunch. I felt a little self conscious at first because other people's packs were smaller but by the end I was really happy I took this one. The capacity is about right and I love the frame, and suspension in general. Rain fly worked well on the days we got rained on. The hiking pole carry is pretty cool too. I used it on training hikes beforehand. It's really overkill for a non-technical day hike but it's not that heavy and compresses well so it's not bad either, just more than you need. Technically it's a little tall for carryon but nobody gave me trouble. As a travel bag, I'd want more access.
