This is my 6 year
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 6 year old daughter’s backpack. It is quite large for her, she is doing longer day hikes with us and just did her first 12,352 mountain. She needs more water than 1.5L, this is the this is the smallest pack that I could get to accomplish that need. It has ample room for 3L of water, lunch, rain gear, and first aid kit. She still has room to put pretty rocks she finds. I especially like the storage for trekking poles. I am looking for an 40L replacement pack for myself and Osprey is high on the list.

I was so excited to
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to order this bag for short hikes in a hot climate. The pack will accommodate ample water and a few essentials without the bulk needed for cooler weather or longer treks. The red color is magnificent, and the pack has all the useful features of my Tempest 20 except for an adjustable harness. That said, the pack is best suited for shorter torsos. There is no way the pack would properly fit my 19-inch torso, and I question whether it would fit an 18-inch torso without the yoke hanging halfway down your back. I'd give the pack five stars if the harness is adjustable (the owner's manual claims the shoulder harness is adjustable, but this is not the case). Returned and ordered an 11L Talon.

Best day pack ever! Holds
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best day pack ever! Holds a water bottle on each side for my dog and I use the bladder. A lot of storage. Very lightweight. I wear it every time I head for the hills.

I Love my Tempest!
I was reading the reviews and was saddened to see a not so good one... I love my Tempest! I want a new one, only because it is so-so dirty from travel and use. It is my daily driver, I keep it in the car for dogs, hikes, exploring, I take it skiing for snacks, layers, water and goodies, I take it overseas China Great Wall, South Korea Hiking, Europe day trips and for quick outings, hiking, exploring the foreign towns and cities. I am buying a new slick silver one for skiing and day hikes. I'll keep the old one for the doggies and the car. I love my Tempest!

Love My Tempest
I recently went on a camping trip to Big Pine, CA. I hiked up to First and Second Lake which was about an 11.3 mile hike and roughly 6.5 hours. The Tempest 9 was perfect! I was able to fit a 3L hydration pack, my snacks, a small first aid kit and other items for the hike. I was a little worried the Tempest 9 was going to be too small, but it did the job. When it came time to selecting a size, I measured at 17"" so I could have gone with either the XS/S or the M/L, I went with the XS/S, however, wished I would have went with the M/L. The hipbelt ended up coming up to my bellybutton. Overall, I am really happy with this backpack!

Functionality is just ok.
I really wanted to love this. I think it is a great size for a light day hike for food and water. It has all the features that Osprey is known for like the stow and go, and an external hydration pocket. The problem is the bungie external cary area on the front. It is almost completely unusable unless you are putting a VERY small item in there. It is far too small. I can't fit a folded jacket or my sandals in it. What did fit was my baseball hat but I had to really fold it and fiddle with it. That was what I was planning on using that space for.I really was looking forward to having that extra space because as a small pack you have to be able to use all storage wisely. Now instead of putting my coat on the outside and using the main space for other items, I have to put it in the main pocket, thus taking up room I could use for extra food or other essentials.

Best backpack I've ever purchased
I spent hours researching to find the best backpack for multi use and after much debate I settled on the Tempest. I am so glad I made this choice! I have used this backpack for 10+ mile hikes and long days mountain biking and it does not disappoint. It has plenty of space for tools, snacks and other essentials but it is not bulky. I am 5'2"" and 105lbs so being petite I wanted something comfortable with a decent amount of storage but not a pack that would overshadow me, this bag is perfect. It allows for good back ventilation and the waist and chest straps are extremely comfortable.
