Material is good, but barely covers my earlobes.

Lightweight and comfortable!

Lightweight and minimal enough to wear under ski or bike helmets. Great layer to take along on a hike or camping trip. Provides some warmth without adding hardly any weight to your pack.

Small medium doesn't quite cover the bottoms of my ears. But still an overall good fit and level of warmth.

Great for under helmets

Like that this can fit under my ski helmet or hiking hat for lightweight extra warmth. Easy to tuck into a pocket. Love merino wool - warm and not scratchy. Nice colors too!

20+ years of my all-time favorite workhorse beanie

I was first introduced to OR when I was issued this beanie while serving with 2nd Ranger Bn.. It was lightweight and could be worn comfortably under helmets. It was also fantastic at retaining heat - being bald, this made a huge difference in some very extreme environments (like the foothills of the himalayas in winter). I have bought and worn these ever since - and only needed to buy more when I lost one. Not once have they failed from any construction defect. My all-time favorite OR product, this beanie rocks.

This hat is so thin that it's almost sheer. Fits weirdly. Maybe you could wear it under a helmet, as another reviewer suggests, but otherwise, this is not going to be a useful hat. too little coverage and doesn't protect against even the slightest breeze.

Awesome fit and warmth!

So many of these beanies don't cover the ears. This one is perfect! Perfect thickness for all temps.

Exactly what I was looking for

I've been using this as a liner under a Yukon hat and it's been great. I've started wearing it in place of my regular tuque when I don't need as much warmth and I'm really enjoying it. It's comfy and fits good. Great to improve the performance of just about any headgear and because it's so thin you don't need to worry about it fitting underneath anything.

ideal under the helmet beanie

It is really very-very thin and lightweight. Ideal to wear under the helmet. As a standalone beanie it also works very good. It's not very warmth, but it will give you some comfort. Thanks to its size, you can always keep this beanie in one of the pockets just in case.
