Why We Like The Outdoor Research Aspire 3L Trench
Rainy days can't dampen our plans or style, thanks to Outdoor Research's Aspire 3L Trench. The understated design and internal waist cinch give us a flattering silhouette that goes with everything, while the AscentShell Dry membrane shuts out rain and wind to keep us dry and unbothered underneath gray skies. Okay but lacking essential features
I haven’t yet worn this in heavy rain, so I can’t attest to the true waterproof-ness of it (an OR coat in a different style was good in light rain but leaked through when soaked in heavy rain), but it keeps me dry in light to moderate rain. I really like the length of the coat but there are certain features that I dislike. There are only three snaps on the front - one at the waist and two at the throat. 1. There is no snap at the bottom, so when walking, the inner panel folds up. Snaps the whole way up, or at least at the bottom would be very appreciated. 2. The breast pocket is on the outside on the coat, rather than the inside. I prefer having it on the inside, so it is more of a hidden pocket. 3. The rough side of the Velcro at the wrists catches on the coat where it does not overlap with the soft side of Velcro. I had to add some extra fabric so that the Velcro would stop snagging the coat. 4. While the hood is a good size and I appreciate the wire at the bill, there is no adjustment for the hood, as with the Aspire trench (not Aspire 3L), so unless I am wearing a hat, the hood falls in front of my eyes and I can’t see in front of me. I can only see the ground unless I tip my head way back. I received this jacket as a warranty for the previously mentioned leaking jacket but would be disappointed if I paid full price for this. It doesn’t really make sense to me that certain features would be removed on a more expensive version of the same jacket.

Hood to large
So disappointed. Had to return. The hood is too large. No matter how you adjust it falls below eyes.
