Why We Like The Coldfront Down Jacket

From the weekly grind through our weekend play, the Coldfront Jacket is there protecting us from frigid temps. Filled with both down and synthetic insulation, this puffer is doubly armored to fight old man winter. For that triple-threat status, its tightly woven fibers help insulate while resisting gusts and drizzles, keeping us toasty through wintry commutes and atop blustery ridgelines.

Won’t be a repeat customer

The cinch cord at the bottom is detached hanging down after first wear. Disappointing. Violated Consumer Protection Act by charging $60 for shipping without prior authorization. Was not refunded. Poor customer service. Only saving grace was low price, which was ruined my the sneak $60 shipping.

Over It.

TERRIBLE quality- buyer beware!!!

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this coat against my better judgement after reading some negative reviews. I thought I could be careful and wash it according to the tag instructions and my experience would be better … WRONG! I wore this coat ~ 6 times and washed it according to instructions. My coat was so messed up from just the one washing. The down all balled up and made it look like my coat had tumors. It was really gross. Do not buy this coat!! You’ll be sorry! I had to fight to get Backcountry to accept my return. This was a swing and complete miss by OR, don’t waste your money.

Couldn't Be Happier!

I love it so much! The fit is exactly what I was looking for - cute and boxy, but not too cropped. The fabric and down fill is SUPER soft. I got in the oyster color which is even better in person than online shots - feels very elevated. Even though this may not be the "most waterproof", I can confirm it is highly water resistant. It kept me dry and warm during a rainy PNW day, even after a car splashed me w a puddle! The (dirty) water bounced right off leaving no trace behind - which was such a relief considering the color of the coat. All in all this piece exceeded my expectations SO much so that I felt compelled to share with whoever will listen ;-)

Haven’t had a chance to try it out in really cold weather yet ,but it is a quality jacket. It is a roomy fit, I got my usual size large and I will definitely be able to layer under it. I love the bright red color. For the sale price this was a steal!

Did not wash well

I bought the white one a few months back. It was 700 FII and the price was great . It was warm without being bulky and I enjoyed wearing it. BUT it did not was well. Instructions were followed (I washed two Patagonia jackets too and they are fine). The down has detached and bunched in places so there is no insulation in some parts of the jacket. I'm quite disappointed and bummed. Was thinking of buying OR for my family but will not do that now.

So warm!

My husband bought the bright green one for me, and I love it so much! It's very soft and lightweight, but soooo warm. I walk the dog in it when it's cold and windy outside, and I can't feel the wind through it at all. The color is a fun switch from the usual black or grey puffers. I'm a size 14-16, and the XL is roomy but not shapeless on me.

I am super picky about my outerwear and have been eyeing this jacket for a while. I got it in the yellow sized medium and it is just what i wanted. The fit is perfect. I'm 5'5 and 130lb and it gives me a little room to move but doesn't look overwhelming. It is warm and comfortable. It was the coat that I chose to take on a trip to Europe to wear everyday in a bunch of different weather conditions. I layered in with a shell on top when it was pouring rain - thanks climate change :( And the yellow is fun and gets tons of compliments. This one is a winner.

Warmth without sacrifice

I love the Coldfront Down jackets that OR has been putting out recently. (So much so, I own two different styles.) This jacket specifically combines my top two necessities, warmth and functionality, without sacrificing style. I can wear this to the office, around the winter bonfire, or for a night out on the town. Been recommending this to friends who want a comfortable, warm, and good looking down jacket.
