I bought size XL in these "wide" gaiters. When laid flat, the width measures ~ 23", so that's also the circumference when wrapped around for actual use. In my case, 23" is far too small to wrap around my 600 gram insulated boots (Refrigiwear Extreme Boa). If Outdoor Research (or BackCountry) would publish the "laid flat" dimensions on boot gaiters, it would help the retail customers to make sure their purchase will satisfy instead of disappoint. I had to pay $7 return shipping just to find out what otherwise could have easily been known. Thanks for listening.

Large calf and works great

I have to say my feet are warmer, my boots are dry and my overall mountain experience is better with the protection these give me. I back country elk hunt in Wyoming each fall and I have ice, mud and deep snow to deal with. The fit is great even over bulky clothing. And I have a large calf. Great product.

These gators worked exactly as described. Used them in CO on elk hunts with deep snow packs. They keep the moisture out. On a plus they are a great additional layer to break the wind on those super cold mornings. Would highly recommend for those that hunt/hike in higher moisture environments.

Only gaiter I'll ever own

Over the years I've had three pairs of these crocodile gaiters, they each have lasted me roughly 7 years with hard use. Thank you OR. -Joe

Tough as nails

These gaiters are the best. Snow, rain, mud, whatever abuse you throw at them, the Crocodile Gaiters will eat it up and ask for more. I've had multiple pairs of these and never had an issue with durability or waterproofing going bad. I always manage to lose them long before they would be worn out. These are the gold standard.

Best option for wet West Virginia days.

Keeps pants leg dry and protected from damage. Wish I had these years ago.

Great for snowboard boots and larger boot for snowmaking

The top closure isn't very secure Will pull out during real work

Great Piece of Gear

I used a similar set in the Army. These are great for keeping the snow out of your boots and protecting your lower legs from whatever brush you're stomping through. Be careful if wearing them with crampons that have projecting spikes along the sides - they will get torn open. I highly recommend these if you're heading out snowshoeing or back-country skiing.

Typical OR Gaiters, but were too wide for what I need them for. Don't even think about ordering if you want to wear them with regular hiking boots... they seem best suited for mountaineering boots, and lots of layers. Perhaps if you had a size 13 hiking boot or bigger they would work.
