Finally…the right clothing for wearing a pack

To start…once I get warmed up I might sweat a fair bit. It seems that all winter packs have a padded back panel these days so there is no airflow around my back & a fair bit of thermal protection. For winter adventures I’ve always wanted a jacket that provides warmth & water resistance only where I’m actually exposed. This jacket is exactly what I’ve been looking for. It is a slightly slim fit which is good for me because in the times I would need it I’ll only have a base layer under it anyway. Super stoked that OR nailed this one.

Utilized for SO, it has been a good activewear layer and continually used more and more as a light rain jacket / wind breaker

Completely love this jacket!

I live at elevation, where weather conditions can change fast (and wind is common). I've worn this jacket in a variety of conditions so far: rain/snow mix at 40 degrees, < sub-freezing temps and sunny, dark and 32 degrees. It's kept me warm without overheating, blocked the wind, and kept me dry during light/moderate precipitation. It's lightweight and packs up small, and is my new fav running item! It feels like it might run just a tad bit small in my opinion, so if you want a thicker layer under it, I might suggest sizing up.

My wife loves it

The Deviator Hoodie is warm, comfortable and blocks the wind. My wife uses hers all the time and keeps it in her back, as it's so light.

Amazing workable winter layer

I winter hike a lot in the white mountains of New Hampshire and I love this layer! It's perfect for ascents over my 300 weight wool shirt. I rarely sweat in it or need more than those 2 layers. If I do sweat it evaporates very quickly. It's very thin and lightweight however I barely need an additional layer in higher elevations. I have worn this in temps ranging from 10-30 degrees F. It's amazing. I love the windbreaker aspect of it bc it either surprise snows or you brush up against trees while hiking and don't get wet. You stay so warm with the fleece lining. Still can't believe how thin it is.

Not a substitute for my beloved ascendant hoody

bought this hoody because my favorite clothing item the OR ascendant hoody has been discontinued and I'm on search for a replacement. This is not it. The sleeves feel both bulky and not insulating. AND The jacket must be worn with a vest as the back is non insulated. The fit is trimmer and less cozy/comfy than the ascendant and the zipper is chintzy itty bitty and a pain to use especially as compared to the ascendant. I still wear the jacket running with a vest over it but I certainly won't be buying a second one just in case...

Love

So versatile. I wear this in 50 degree weather over a t-shirt to hike, or in 10 degree weather over a baselayer to xc ski. It layers under a shell well too. Breathable, but cuts the wind when biking or skiing. The hood fits super well, alone or under a helmet. And my favorite part... a chest pocket!! Not enough women's jackets have them.

Perfect Fall Jacket

I bought this jacket for fall activities when the weather is cool, sometimes windy, sometimes rain/snow. It is weather resistant, moves well, has breathable material on sides and back. I look forward to using it on non stormy winter days cross country skiing. Anyone can use this jacket beginner to expert. The wrists are snug, not adjustable. It is fitted. Get it! Nice jacket.

fits great, comfortable and warm for mid/low temps. i was hoping for pants that would work for freezing temps without having to layer but i guess that's a lot to ask
