A perfect hat
I've had dozens of hats over the decades, and this is a perfect one when I'm generating some heat from exercise (hiking, skiing). (A warmer hat's needed for standing around in cold weather.)

Not a frost line
It is a very technically designed product therefore it appears difficult to wear it for theater and dinner evenings. So should it be used 'outdoor'? All right: but then it is too thin: chill and wind easily pass through it and head freezes. Parka's hoodie over it, is necessary to reach a basic comfort. In itself is a good product; only be aware it does not carry itself alone, the burdens winter let you experience, despite the name inducing to believe.

If the Velcro is improved

Meh...
I really wish I loved this but the ear flaps are too small and the Velcro rarely stays attached and usually requires 2 hands to attach... tough to do while holding onto a dog sled. The fit is decent and the cinch on the back is nice. I was expecting a bit more functionality for the money and from OR

Easy to wear , not bulky
Great overall hat to pack for light trips . Light , does the job on high wind and I've used the mouth cover a few times when it's really ripping through. It could be a little deeper wear by having the hat while ear flaps are up have the overall come down more a bit over the ears , and to add vents in the mouth part would be a good add. This hat is well worth the money, so far daily use for me .

Almost great.
It's very warm and wind/rain-proof. My only complaint is that the chinstrap does not connect very well. There needs to be a stronger connection.

Need to offer in XXL
Great product, obviously a lot of thought put into the design however as several reviewers have indicated, the fit runs small. I have this in an XL and it runs tight (even after a haircut). Please consider offering this in a XXL size. Kind regards-

Great hat if you hack it yourself!
I work as a Polar Expedition Guide and got this hat for work, especially in Antarctica. I LOVED the hat but HATED the velcro on the chin straps! I use this hat with the OR SONIC BALACLAVA for bomb-proof polar protection of my head and neck. I only problem I had was that the chin straps were not long enough and the velcro was not strong enough! I notified OR about this hoping that a change would be made on future designs but unfortunately the design was left the same. I did not want to return my hat so removed the OR velcro from the chin straps, bought some stronger velcro and had it sewn to the straps! Now it works great and even Antarctic katabatibc winds can't rip it off my head!

The best winter hat I have ever owned
My daughter grabbed one of these hats off the shelf and asked "Daddy, can you buy me one of these hats?". I did and she loved it so much that she convinced me to buy one too. I am so glad I did as it's my all time favorite winter hat. I live in Colorado and spend every weekend in the mountains between 10k and 14k feet. I wear this hat for every outing from mountaineering, ice climbing, hiking and belaying when not wearing a helmet. It is warm, versatile and comfortable. I have used this hat down to -5 without needing another layer.

Great har to work outdoors
I got this hat for work as we are outside most of the day in those -30 to -40 canadian cold. So far it has held up really good, keeps me very warm. I like that I can bring it to different level of warm and adjust according to the temperature. If it's milder I just lift the sides, but as the temperature drops I drop the sides. On nights when it get really cold, I add the mask and don't feel the cold at all. My management approved the style as they thought it looked professional with the uniform. I read the reviews prior to purchasing, and went for a bigger size. I am usually a size small, and M or L would fit perfectly.
