Sun Runner Cap

Almost perfect

The hat is lightweight and comfortable to wear. The draw string keeps the flaps from flying all over the place. My only gripe is the fastening system for the head strap being slightly more complicated. I like the snaps in the front of the bill, but the straps going through slits makes me not want to take the flap off, even when I don’t need it. Great for sun protection and dries very quickly.

Best Sun Hat

Bought this hat about 15 years ago. Fishing from the High Sierras up to 10,000 feet elevation to out in the deep sea and even river rafting, it is amazing! The sun protection is outstanding, the comfort is unmatched and the chin strap has saved it multiple times. It's taken me this long to see some wear that has me not thinking twice about getting another one and not a cheap knock off.

Fist bump

Sun, rain, snow, hot, cold, this hat is it. Any job requiring ear protection…they fit over the hat and still hug the ear while offering protection from the elements. Comfortable, light weight…I buy them just to give to friends so they know the joy of this hat. Seriously! Ask my nephew…I gave him one.

Great for sun, but very hot

The hat is great for blocking sun, but it made me very hot on my run. When I run in the shade I immediately remove the hat and feel the big temperature difference. It was nice to soak the hat in water and then put it on. Then it felt like I had a built in air conditioner.

Very versitile

This has been my go-to hat for years. I've worn it so much that the color has faded. I really like how the skirt can be unbuttoned from the brim and let hang - it provides an additional ventilation option. I also like the draw cord - again it allows ventilation options. I've also found that the draw cord makes the hat easy to hang from my shoulder strap water bottle if I need to remove the hat while under trees for additional ventilation. I wish it was still available in yellow.

I purchased several similar hats from BackCountry because I am very fair-skinner and needed more protection from the sun. This is my favorite of the three. It's a light-weight fabric, easy to remove the back shield when I don't need it and it washes easily in the machine. Very breathable. Very happy with this purchase!!

Wished this worked out; watch the sizing

This hat is terrific, but it didn't work for my husband for sailing. He needs lots of visibility, and while the flaps protect they also block peripheral vision. If your activity does not require a lot of that then go for it. The hat quality is very good, including the attachment of the flap, important. The size chart did not point us to the right size. While he needed it larger, he also needed it to be tighter to stay on in the wind. Sadly it just did not work.

Great sun hat!

I wear this hat all the time for running and kayaking. It's light and drys well and fast. Will definitely get a second one as this hat has become indispensable to me as I spend a lot of time outdoors.

Highly recommend for sun protection

I bought the hat for a trip to SE Asia & Africa. The hat with the flap on does look a bit silly, but it comes off easily and is then just a nice baseball cap that's very comfortable and stays on well. I plan to use the flaps when faced with the worst of the heat, they seem to work better than anything else I've tried and pretty much anything effective looks a bit silly an
