warm and lightweight
For weight to warmth ratio this jacket is impressive. Nordic skiing at 10-15 degrees, this is a perfect base layer under a Gore-tex shell. It offers good breathability for heavy exercise. I am 6ft, 200 lb and the fit is pretty snug. Too snug for an additional base layer underneath. Large/tall is my perfect size due to ape arms. The sleeve length of the large is perfect but still probably should have ordered a size up but not enough of a problem for a return. This jacket will be a perfect lightweight layer for summer/fall backpacking. It is also light enough to wear under a down jacket for extra warmth in very cold conditions (0 to minus 20). Only 4 stars because I worry that the zipper is too light and may not hold up under extended use.

Nice, but Not for big storm
The jacket has a nice color and a great fit. However, it’s much thinner than I expected. It provides decent warmth down to around 20°F, but anything colder might require additional layering

Perfect touring layer
Down puffy's....all the rage, but not always practical in the active backcountry environment. The SuperStrand is lighter, packs easier and dries faster if you do get to sweating out in the skin track. Typical OR quality and design I've come to expect and appreciated.

Good not great
I had high hopes for this jacket, and for the most part it seems like a good jacket, but it falls short in a couple of ways. Pros: the stitching pattern seems to keep the insulation well distributed which should not be overlooked. Big fan of this! Cons: the fit is awkward for me. I finally landed on a size L and its definitely boxier than I want it to be through the torso but fits well in the shoulders. The size down (M) fit well in the torso but was too tight in the shoulders. For reference I'm 6'2" 190. Also, the main zipper feels really light and I don't expect it to last very long. FInally, the lack of a chest pocket in a jacket like this feels like an egregious oversight to me.

Poor quality
Liked the look and fit of the coat but Zipper broke within 2 months of wear. Down seems to be leaking out of the coat in many areas.

An Unex[ected Disappointment
I purchased in August 2024 to use on cycling trip across Spain in November. The jacket proved warm enough and was reasonably compressible for storage in a pannier. When I returned home to Maine, the SuperStrand became one of my go-to jackets for day to day wear. It did not take long for the zipper to stop working. The lightweight design evidently requires a very small and fragile zipper system. I figured I would be alright with OR's lifetime warranty. That's when I got a bit of a jolt. As a long time OR user I was shocked to discover the company's lifetime warranty is not what I thought. Imagine being told in email that someone would respond to my warranty claim in "approximately three business weeks." I expected so much more from a company I've purchased from for over 30 years.

Great mid season jacket.
This jacket has a lot of what I was looking for in terms of purchasing a jacket for camping and hiking. It’s super lightweight without losing the ability to keep you warm. It’s surprisingly wind resistant. Best of all, it packs away nicely by stuffing the jacket into the front pocket.

Wonderful mid layer
I love the style and fit of the jacket, but was doubtful of its warmth and durability. I’ve owned it for about 4 months and am plum happy with my purchase. I find I reach for it more than my other jackets. I’m hoping it will be durable enough to last many seasons to come!

Good mid/light weight layer
Like other reviewers, I find the hemline of the jacket to be a little tight which results in a baggy fit from hemline to mid-torso. I am a slim person so it is noticeable. I would really appreciate having a chest (Napoleon) pocket like many other jackets of this type have. The jacket is lighter weight than I thought it would be. That’s not to say it’s not warm. It just requires a heavier under layer in the northern MN climate where I live.

Top notch jacket
Very light weight and packable, yet super warm - really glad that I’ve added this to my EDC pack.
