Why We Like The Patagonia Mountain Suspenders
To keep our pants on through climbs, grabs, and yard sales, we outfit them with the Patagonia Mountain Suspenders. The low-profile hooks lay flat, so there's no digging into our skin or snagging our others layers, while the adjustable cross-back design lets us dial in that perfect fit.

These suspenders are a big disappointment. I bought them because I wanted suspenders with very low profile connectors to my hiking/climbing pants. Most suspenders use large and bulky clamps/clips to secure them to a waistband, which tend dig into your waist under a heavy pack's hip belt. I thought the very low profile flat aluminum hooks used with these suspenders would be the perfect solution. Unfortunately, the open ended hooks easily slip out of the 1" webbing loops on my pants due to a miniscule upturned lip at the end of the hooks. Further the hooks have a split center bar that allow them to be removed - which also allows them to slip off the elastic suspender straps. The only (and totally unacceptable) solution I've found so far is to keep so much tension in the suspender straps that I'm wearing them like Steve Urkle! So now I'm on the hunt for double locking G-hooks to replace the OEM ones. All this trouble after buying a Patagonia product?!? For twice what any other suspenders I found cost?!? Yup, very disappointing.
