Why We Like The Patagonia Super Free Alpine Jacket

As we wade through powder, push against blinding spindrift, and kick up ice faces, the Patagonia Super Free Alpine Jacket takes on the elements to keep us comfortably dry underneath. Great Jacket

Familiarity:: I've put it through the wringer
Size Bought:: XL

I am 6'3 190 lbs and the XL fit very well. Enough room to layer with a baselayer + a puffer with room to layer even more if needed. Arms are quite long due to it being intended for climbing which is nice if you're getting active in it. Used this jacket for the first time during a camping trip in the North Cascade mountains in Washington State. During the second day we were met 2 hours of a snow storm on our descent, jacket did extremely well and was extremely breathable. As my friends had to take off shells to delayer as we warmed up, this jacket regulated my temperature extremely well with the pit zips. In typical Washington fashion, we were hit with 5 hours of consistent rain as well. This jacket held up very well. The only areas that ended up "wetting out" were the back, due to my rather heavy backpack pressing against it for 8+ hours, as well as the shoulders due to the shoulder straps. Used the jacket again the following day as we went up Mt. Rainier. We didn't face any rain or snow during this ascent, but we were met with extreme winds and cold during a pretty intense hike. This jacket breathed extremely well and kept me protected from the winds. If you plan on using this jacket with a helmet, if the helmet is on the larger side, it can restrict your neck movement a bit. Would highly recommend this jacket if you are looking for a Goretex do-it-all jacket, just be weary of pressure points being easily susceptible to wetting out.
