Why We Like The Patagonia Torrentshell 3L Jacket

From backpacking trips to rainy commutes, the Patagonia Torrentshell 3L Jacket is one of our favorite rain shells due to its breathable, durable ripstop construction and lightweight packability. The Performance Standard H2No 3-layer membrane is the same one used in Patagonia's ski jackets, so we know we can depend on the Torrentshell to seal out even the worst storms while remaining light enough to throw in a pack when the sun makes an appearance.

Love it!

I bought this coat for a 10-day trip to the Azores. It rained nearly every day, and didn't stop me for a second! The Torrentshell kept me dry and comfortable, even on a 7 hour climb of Mt. Pico with rain blowing from all directions. - I love the blue color, it looks great. - the jacket, like all raincoats can be a little warm in warm weather. It is an effective windbreaker and the pit zips help- I was pretty comfortable wearing it with a T-shirt underneath in 65 degree weather. - initially the jacket is a bit stiff and crinkly from the factory, but after a few uses and packing/unpacking it loosens up nicely. - zippers and pulls are great quality. -lightweight and packable in a pocket. -I am 6'1", 190lbs and the Large leaves plenty of room for layering without looking baggy. I LOVED having this jacket and highly recommend it.

NORTH CAROLINA

I bought this jacket for my first AT trip. But I live in western NC and plans changed. I used the jacket to travel throughout the area and assit people in need. The jacket took all of the abuse that I have it and it keep me protected from some very nasty weathet.

Excellent rain-protection and quality

Familiarity:

Excellent product: sturdy, well-made, effective, smooth-operating protected zippers, large zipped armpit openings, ample Velcro to secure jacket around wrists, ample hood. My only complaints are that there aren’t any inner pockets, and the durable, high-quality material is on the ‘crunchy’ side, so to speak, and is therefore fairly noisy when putting on, taking off, and moving around.

Nice raincoat

I just spent 14 days in Alaska and it rained pretty much every day. This jacket definitely kept me dry and it kept the wind out but you’ll want to layer because it won’t really keep you warm. The only negative is that it sounds like you’re wearing a Doritos bag. It’s really noisy. Other than that, it’s great!

Zipper flap for lefties

Familiarity:
I returned this product before using it
Size Bought:
Large

It was a nice rain jacket. It ran true to size. The zipper flap seems to be backwards. It would work better for a left-handed person. It was hard to zip from the right side. I returned for that reason.

Just what I was looking for

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Bought this a few weeks ago...a little off season so the sale price was a bonus! Strong, durable, feels like it will last forever. I bought a size up for room for a warmth layer underneath and it's just right. Ohio turned warm and rainy in January so I've had use for it...great buy.

Hiked 11 miles in a snow shower PNW day recently and this jacket kept me dry during the entire hike, and its arm vents really helped to flow heat out. I am 5'6" and small size fits well even have enough space for a fleece layer underneath
