I love this backpack!

I went back and forth about 20 times on whether or not to buy this backpack, as I have a very short torso and wasn't sure it would fit. I finally ordered it for a recent trip, and I love it! I also got the hip belt, which made it even comfier. It's adjustable enough that it fits my short little torso, and carried everything I needed for a weekend trip. I love all the pockets and how easy it is to organize. It looks sleek, it carries a huge amount for its size, and now I think I need the 45L one too.

Overall great bag, just miss side access.

In this review I'll be comparing the outdoor backpack 25L with the everyday backpack v2 20L. I found the everyday backpack uncomfortable and bought the outdoor for more comfy bah. Considering comfort, the outdoor backpack is far ahead, the straps are sooo comfortable. The sternum strap was a bit tricky to put with one hand at first, probably like the everyday backpack, but now I am used to it and can put both with one hand. About accessing the gear inside of the bag, I'm a bit disappointed with the outdoor backpack, having to put down the bag and opening it all the way is far less practical than the everyday backpack with its side access. Maybe with experience I'll get more used to camera cubes and will prefer it over the everyday backpack. For the top access I am happy with both maglatch and ultra cinch. About pockets, I prefer the everyday backpack with many pockets and "sub-pockets". The outdoor backpack has not so much pockets, probably because the bag was design with the usage of packing cubes in mind. About "rainproofness", I spend half a day under heavy snow and stuff in the front pocket were dry. So overall a very confortable and modular bag (at the cost of camera and packing cubes), but I'm not yet convinced with the way I have to access my gear inside.

Very versatile

I bought this backpack one month ago. I tested it during few days. It's full of very smart features, solid and very versatile. I'm an outdoor photographer and I must admit it fits very well my expectations. With it I can carry lot of gear in very good conditions. It's my preferred Backpack as of now.

Almost perfect

I got this as a Christmas present from my wife. We travel a lot every year and we exclusively take the free carry-on option on planes and this bag is almost perfect in every sense. It's perfectly compliant with every airline's carry-on rules yet offers a lot of flexibility to push rules to the limit. The materials are very good quality, the side pockets are the best I've ever had on any backpack, I love that they are super deep and stretchy. It has loads of features, you actually need time to learn all it's possibilities. The only things I would improve is something like a quick-access inside pocket. If you want to carry your passports you now either have to rely on the two back pockets (access is a bit too open), or you can use the inside deep sleeve but that's not convenient for quick access. The biggest issue however is the quick access rope. It's not bolted to the backpack, so you'd think that's great, easy to replace and extend the life of the bag if needed. But that rope is threaded through a special mechanism inside the bag and there is no zipper access to it. So the easy repairability suddenly becomes the biggest weakness of the bag. The rope is only tethered to the bag by a knot. I can easily see that knot loosening and coming undone at some point, at which point if you pull on the bag to open it the rope will be lost inside the bag and loop out of the mechanism. The only thing you can do is send the bag back for repairs if they will take it. I don't understand this design choice and it gives me anxiety. Maybe I'm not getting something but we wouldn't you allow a zipper access to that rope mechanism to allow repairability. If anything happens to that rope your bag is worse than any other bag on the market. Any seamstress can replace a broken zipper. But that proprietary quick-release rope makes or breaks the whole backpack.

Comfortable and stylish

I love how this backpack makes packing easier without causing shoulder pain. Before this, I owned an Everyday Backpack 20L, and I find the Outdoor Backpack more practical and comfortable even though it has fewer features for organizing gear. Comfort was the most important reason for the switch, and the Outdoor Backpack provides excellent value. The only reason for 4* is I wish they could update the handle on top with something much softer. It feels too thin and sharp when carrying heavy loads. Also, the addition of a luggage strap could complete this backpack. However, they shared an unlisted video on YouTube showing how you can make a luggage strap with the straps provided.

Mostly wonderful

Plus: great color. Love the roll top magnetic closure and tough fabric on back and bottom. Minus: wish they’d put that tough fabric at bottom of side pockets. I see a tripod blowout in the future. The dangling drawstring on the back is a little obnoxious. The clever folks at PD could have done better with that. It’s a little expensive.

Outdoor 25L - Eclipse

I just received mine about 3 weeks ago. Super happy with the design, build, colour and the quality. I love how it opens both ways and it’s perfect for my camera and lenses! The compartments are really thought through. I can’t wait to take it to more of my outdoor adventures! Thanks Peak Design for this awesome design!

Amazing

I’m using mine as a work laptop bag, a bag for hiking & biking treks, and with a Smedium Camera bag as a full on camera bag with space for other stuff. Super protection and easy to use. I’d give it 5 stars but I think the price is high, especially since you’re going to need accessories for lots of use cases.

The Fellowship of travel

I was looking for a cool backpack for outdoor use. This backpack is well thought out in terms of functionality and also looks cool. Personally, I really like the material.
