Great shoe!

Rides great, fits true to size. Sole is nice and rigid but not too bad to walk around in. Great bike ride to bars shoe. They look a little orthopedic until you break em in with some dust, so they’re lacking a bit of style, but at the price point it’s a great value shoe.

One of the best lace up shoes out there!

I ordered these from Backcountry as they were the only place I could find the size I needed. This is the second pair of these shoes for me. Hopefully they'll last as long as the previous pair (approximately 2 years). Of course I'll treat them as I did the last pair. The weakest point I've found on all shoes is the fact that the sole separates from the rest of the shoe all too often. I now treat the seam between the sole and the rest of the shoe with super glue. Yet this doesn't help the rest of the shoe. In the approximately 2 years I've owned the previous pair, the first thing to wear out is the inside of the heel of the shoe. But given that fact, I purchase another set of these for the quality they have and better ability to fit my 12EEEEE feet. Only one other brand can do that now. However, finding a lace up shoe in my size gets harder and harder each year. I'm not racer but have tried both velcro and Boa type closures as well. Velcro doesn't last long and Boa closures give me hot spots on the top of my feet. As to Backcountry, they are really good for having what I need and their shipping as promised is on time. This is only the second time I've ordered from Backcountry and they've yet to disappoint. Cudo's for a well managed business.

Package stolen

My package was stolen, with proof of it being ripped apart down the street, and I told backcountry about it and was told there’s nothing they can do.

Perfect for The Design Purpose

Familiarity:

I purchased these specifically for a bike trip which included walking in small towns during stops. The shoes were easy to walk in and no stiffness. The lace up feature made them fit to my liking. When riding they are not as stiff or firm as regular clip ins as you would expect. A traditional bike shoe is firmer and thus more supportive. I recommend these as I am pleased with purchase and trip was awesome.

just what I was looking for

I wanted an SPD bike shoe that didn't scream MAMIL, and would be comfortable off the bike, and these deliver. My favorite feature is the built in elastic strap to keep the laces contained and out of the chainrings. I wish all my shoes had this feature. Pearl izumi products have never let me down and these shoes are no exception. I've worn them on about 10 rides ranging from 20-60 miles on mixed terrain and they have performed well and stayed comfortable. Cycle shoes are often too narrow for my feet but not these.

Great SPD Shoe for Walking

Familiarity:

I've had these for about a month and am very happy with the purchase. Yes, the soles are stiff, but that's what I expect in a cycling shoe. I've only had Sidi shoes before, so this was a switch for me. Walking is great, and the cleats don't clack on the pavement with each step. I plan to use these for touring and commuting, but have also used in a spinning class. The recessed area for the cleat is tight, so depending on your pedal design, clipping in and out might take some practice.
