When used in conjunction with a chest strap (Petzl Torse) and a basic handled ascender, the Croll simply slides up the rope as you make upward progress. The self-cleaning slot allows the stainless steel cam to perform on frozen or dirty ropes, and the compact nylon trigger allows for quick manipulation of the device.

I was perusing here in search of deals and randomly saw this Croll. The item description is a little confusing and if not read fully, you may end up getting this item that is in fact a CROLL S (8-11). I have a Croll S, and it is great for caving, though it can have trouble feeding dirty or swollen rope. Just want to make sure people know this listing is for a Croll S.
