Why We Like The Firebird Ride GX/X01 Eagle Mountain Bike
Big wheels and big travel make for some speedy descents aboard the Pivot Firebird Race X01 Mountain Bike. Bred for the highest levels of enduro racing, the Firebird is our first choice for black diamond runs and technical mountain terrain. But since it's powered by an efficient DW-Link suspension platform and Pivot's legendary carbon frame, we don't hesitate to tackle big mileage rides deep in the forest, considering the Firebird pedals much more comfortably than other bikes in the enduro category.
The DW-Link rear suspension uses a longer link that's inspired by the Pivot Phoenix downhill bike, maximizing the Firebird's rearward axle path to make quick work of square-edged bumps and softening the blow of repeated chunky hits. Alongside hollow-core carbon frame molding, Pivot implements size-specific design and ride tuning on their frames. In essence, the carbon lay-up, tube thicknesses, and even chainstay lengths vary between sizes in order to maintain a consistent ride quality across all frame sizes.
This Ride GX/X01 build kit is a more cost-effective option than the Pro or Team-level build kits, but comes with a host of trustworthy components like a FOX Performance 38 fork, Performance Float X shock, X01/GX drivetrain, and DT Swiss M1900 wheels. Aggressive Maxxis EXO+ tires give us an abundance of grip and puncture protection, while SRAM Code R 4-piston brakes handle our stopping duties with sufficient stopping power for any trail.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
