Threaded cartridges have external threads that allow them to be securely screwed into compatible inflators. This design ensures a tight seal, preventing gas from escaping before you use it. Non-threaded cartridges may not fit all inflators and can lead to leaks, making threaded cartridges a more reliable choice for cyclists.

When selecting an inflator, ensure it is compatible with the type of CO2 cartridges you plan to use (threaded or non-threaded). Look for inflators that are easy to operate and have good reviews for reliability. A good inflator will make the process of inflating your tires quick and hassle-free.

CO2 cartridges are compact and can easily be stowed in a jersey pocket or a seat bag. Many cyclists use dedicated storage pouches that can hold both the cartridges and the inflator, ensuring you have everything you need without taking up too much space.

Freezing ooze occurs when CO2 is released too quickly, causing the cartridge to become very cold and potentially leak liquid CO2. To avoid this, release the gas slowly and avoid rapid inflation. This will help protect your inflator and valve stems from damage.

CO2 cartridges are single-use items. Once you puncture a cartridge to inflate a tire, it cannot be reused. It's a good idea to carry a few extra cartridges with you on rides, so you're prepared for multiple flat tires or emergencies.
