What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:

"These pants are the perfect mix of comfort and protection for fast-moving alpine climbs. The stretch fabrics let me move freely, and the reinforced areas handle tough conditions. The waterproofing is solid, and the zippered hem gusset is great for bigger boots."

The Kinetic Alpine 2.0 Pants combine the stretch and comfort of softshells with the protection of hardshells, creating an ideal companion for fast-paced alpine ascents. Built with Proflex™ fabrics, these pants provide flexibility and breathability where it’s needed most, while reinforced panels in high-wear areas ensure durability on rugged terrain.

Features like articulated knees and a gusseted crotch allow unrestricted movement during technical climbs, and a zippered hem gusset accommodates various boot sizes. Excellent trousers, use cycling so

Excellent trousers, use cycling so these are a closer fit than usual waterproof trousers. Adjustable waist keeps in place (as compared to elastic waist). Breathability is excellent, my old trousers were boil in the bag, these breathe and can finish a 3hr ride and they remain dry inside - amazing! Great to have different leg lengths as well - long is a perfect fit for me.

Almost perfect

Love these pants. Perfect in all weathers. I wore them with Montane Terra pants the other day, was so warm on the low level stuff, but perfect on the higher areas in high winds. Absolutely chucked it down with rain, but these kept me dry all day. My only criticism is if you want to use these as an over-trouser to put on when it starts to rain, the leg zips are pretty short so you may need to take your boots off.

The Pants you never thought you needed

The perfect pant for when the weather can’t make up its mind For days when it starts out wet but turns sunny or viceversa Worn next to the skin I have found them never too cold or clammy Very comfortable lightweight trouser Highly recommended

Everything about these pants are

Everything about these pants are great, except for the leg zip, just not quite long enough. I had a fight at a cairn on the top of a Munro to try and put the pants on over my boots. There obviously designed to put on with your boots off (shame), I did manage to do it but if the zip was just a few inches longer it would be so much better. Great quality, material otherwise.

Superb waterproof trousers. Comfortable, warm, great design and cut. The material is superb and has a much better look and feel to normal waterproof items.

Really good fit and completely

Really good fit and completely waterproof. Feels a bit strange against bare skin (legs) but you soon get used to it. A great fit and true to size

Not as waterproof as I

Not as waterproof as I hoped. I wore them for the first time today in steady if not heavy rain. After less than hour the thighs of the thin trousers I was wearing underneath were damp.

A really great pair of

A really great pair of trousers; the belt is a big upgrade over the Kinetic trousers which just have elastic which while good for fit, doesn’t really secure them if you have anything in the pockets

Prefer the original design

I bought the Kinetic Alpine2 trousers after having picked up a pair of the original ones last year. I use the original pair sometimes twice a day and find them perfect to throw over trousers in wet weather in the mountains or on a dog walk. The elasticated waste made them super comfy, the only reason I need new ones is there is a thorn in a knee and now they leak in heavy rain. So I bought the Kinetic Alpine 2. They seem to be a baggier cut and longer in the leg too. The waste is now more tailored with poppers and a built in side belt, but are less comfortable and seem over baggy around the thighs and some how don’t feel as cut well as the originals.. I’ll persevere with them, they are beginning to grow on me but if I had the choice of the two I’d have another set of the original ones rather than the 2s. Having said that, Proflex is amazing, not sure I’ll ever have a Gortex waterproof again.
