Why We Like The Neutrino Pro Down Jacket
Freezing temperatures have a hard time stopping us from enjoying the outdoors, especially when we're in the Rab Neutrino Pro Down Jacket. Since it's protected with a Pertex Quantum Pro® face fabric and lined in Pertex Quantum, the Neutrino Pro is durable and flexible enough to withstand harsh weather conditions and ensure fun times at the resort. The Nikwax hydrophobic European goose down insulation makes this jacket incredibly warm and highly compressible, which allows you to stuff it into your backpack with ease. We appreciate that it also features a stitch-through baffle construction and chest and hand-warmer zip pockets.

Great jacket for the days when you need extra warmth because you are not necessarily moving, such as photography locations.

This jacket is awesome. I bought this in black (anthracite) a few years ago when it was on sale and it's still in perfect shape. Possibly both my biggest gear splurge and best investment in gear to date. It's so cozy, packable, and has kept me warm during cold nights in the backcountry. For reference, I usually wear a size small in tops, bought this in a small, and it's the perfect fit - comfortably fits a base layer and fleece under it too. This Memorial Day weekend I really tested its performance though - I climbed Mount Baker and one person in my party forgot their shell. It was snowing, windy, and in the 10s/20s F for most of the 2 days. I would normally never wear a down puffy without a shell in any precip or wind, but knew this jacket was supposed to have some water resistance, so I gave them my Arcteryx hard shell (for reference: also size small in their updated/bigger Beta AR sizing) and wore this puffy as my only/combined insulation and shell layer. I was pretty worried about it soaking through and getting hypothermia as we gained elevation - but this thing kept me totally warm and dry, and I didn't even feel the windchill cut through it. I also got to test out the pocket placement with a harness on for roped glacier travel, since this was my outer layer. Although I don't think the pockets are necessarily designed for a harness / placed higher up, I was able to use the pockets for snacks, extra glove liners, etc. and have no complaints. My helmet fit great under the hood, too - and the hood stayed put shockingly well in the wind. I don't know if this jacket would hold up as well in rain, and I would never *plan* to wear it again as a shell, but am super thankful that it worked out. Can't recommend this enough - it's worth the investment!

The nicest jacket I've ever owned

I am so pleased with this jacket. It's light to wear, but incredibly warm. Even in shirt sleeves and no sweater underneath, I'm warm, and I tend to be cold as a rule. The zipper slips easily, and the material is soft and comfortable. When I sit down, it doesn't pull at the bottom, but if that ever happens, I can unzip from the bottom. The wrists neck down to keep my arms warm, and the back is longer, to keep my behind warm. The side pockets zip to keep belongings safe. The top of the zipper has a small cover to protect my chin. I'm a swimmer, so I have broad shoulders, and coats often pull across the bust when I reach forward. But this jacket doesn't do that. There is enough room across the shoulders and in the arms for my arms to move freely, almost like they knew we might be climbing in it. :-) I would have liked more inside pocket space, and although I understand the hood size is to accommodate helmets, that isn't what I want it for, so it's huge. But these are tiny comments - I love this jacket, so much so, I bought two of them, for the time when the first one gets broken or goes MIA. This is the nicest jacket I've ever owned, and I've worn down jackets all my life.

We bought this for our teenage daughter as her Christmas present, and she is over the moon - it is stylish, warm, the fit is fantastic and the size was true to what was advertised. Highly recommend this for everyone, from active adventurers to picky teenagers!

Very good cqaulity garment that is a great fit and really comfortable to wear while hill walking. It also packs up small enough to go into my back pack.

A touch narrow in the hips

I purchased both this jacket and the Rab Mythic Ultra (each in small) and wanted to offer some comparative observations. I am 5'3" and 130 lbs, a pretty standard small/4/27. I am looking for a lightweight and very warm jacket as an emergency to carry on ski tours and to descend in (I climb in pretty light layers and want something to throw on for a cold decent, and it needs to have room for holding my skins while still looking okay back at home), as well as for everyday work and travel in Wyoming winters. The 2 jackets are comparable in length, but the Neutrino is a bit narrower in the hips, making me wonder how it would do when you need to pull it out and pop it over other layers on a transition. The Neutrino's material feels slightly stiffer as if it would hold up better to snags while skiing through the trees, compared to a thinner/silkier feel to the Mythic Ultra's material. The Neutrino has an interior chest pocket and microfleece-lined main pockets, while Mythic Ultra has an exterior chest pocket and non-lined main pockets. The Neutrino's hood has a velcro piece to shorten if wearing without a helmet, while the Mythic Ultra's hood is hard to get tight enough on the head without a helmet to keep out the wind. The Neutrino did not come with a stuff sack, while the Mythic Ultra does. This all makes sense, as the Mythic Ultra is a true mountaineering jacket while the Neutrino is built for skiing and casual use. Still undecided about which to keep! The Neutrino in the red (heather/grapefruit) color is gorgeous.
