Why We Like The Rapha Core Cargo Bib Short

Rapha's Core series produces performance cycling apparel for the everyday rider. The Rapha Core Cargo Bib Shorts a made with a stretchy, and densely knit Lycra fabric for comfort and mobility and high-stretch suspender straps that stay flat on our shoulders. A single-density chamois keeps us comfortable and reduces fatigue on long rides, and laser-cut leg grippers lined with silicone keep the bib shorts in place no matter how hard we are riding. The Core Cargo Bib Shorts are the same as the Cor Bib Shorts except they feature dual lower back cargo pockets for storage, as well as two stretch mesh thigh pockets for essential ride items. A central cut-out on the back helps to keep us cool on hotter days, and flatlock seams reduce chafing and make for a comfortable fit.

Solid bib

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Bought this a month ago and it is a comfortable bib made with high quality materials. It has a thick chamois pad and tons of pockets for gear, food, drinks for long rides. I guess its for domestiques! Love this bib.

Fit/comfort doesn’t match the hype

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I have been cycling for about 5years now, and have — up until this point — worn shorts and bibs from lower priced companies that sell exclusively through large e-commerce sites. While very comfortable, most of the products used lower quality fabric that was prone to fraying. After reading various reviews that praised the quality of products from RAPHA, I took the plunge on these bib shorts, and paid (even with the discount from Competitive Cyclist, thank you) about three times what I had paid for similar products I purchased previously (from companies that, perhaps, didn’t have as effective of a PR department as Rapha!). First of all, re: the sizing, their size chart seems to be way off…I’m 6’1” and 170 lbs, with a 41” chest, so initially bought a L, per their size chart. I could barely get the item on…I might have had better luck with a gallon of paint and a brush! So, returned them and got the XL. It fits, but somewhat oddly: the bibs seem to be for a very short-waisted, long legged individual. The shoulder straps seem to be short, and the inseam long. The quality of the product does seem to be superior, especially the fabric itself and the sewing. The pockets are a little lower on the leg than I would like, but not terrible and sized well for my iPhone 15 ProMax. I find the pockets on the back of the bibs to be impractical for anything you might need quick access to, as they are covered by the jersey that I wear. Nonetheless, they could be useful for storage of items needed on an occasional basis during a ride. My real issue with with the bib shorts is the quality of the chamois/padding. First of all, the pad seems smaller in overall area than that which I’ve experienced previously from other brands. Additionally, it is not plush whatsoever. The combination of both of these deficiencies result in a less comfortable ride than I have experienced with the bib shorts I’ve purchased previously for 1/3 the price. What I’d really like to see is a larger, more plush padding with the quality of the fabric and the sewing that is displayed in this product. I’m willing to consider that the padding may just be a bad fit for my particular anatomic build , so if you are willing to roll the dice on that, I do recommend the product for its specific fabric quality. However, I learned a valuable lesson here. The MOST important aspect of any cycling apparel is its comfort and practicality during the ride. Appearance, including some fraying, is not as critical. So, my overall impression with the RAPHA Core Cargo Bib Short could be summed up in the word “disappointed “and in the phrase “didn’t live up to expectations.”

First time trying Rapha. Chamios is just okay. Won't be grabbing these for anything more than a 1-2 hour ride. Expected more with how many people wear Rapha, I suppose the Pro line is where it's at...fit was good. 6'2'' ~195 lbs size Large

Had made the comment a number of years ago that bib shorts would be better with some storage. Great to see the merge of bibs and yoga pant functionality at last.
