Why We Like The Red Wing Heritage Beckman Boot

Red Wing Heritage constructs luxury that lasts, and their Beckman Boot is here to testify. The leather uppers mold to our feet, the waxed laces lock in our fit, and the Goodyear Leather Welt construction invites us to resole again and again, while all three fight off inclement weather to keep our feet dry and our look sharp on our commutes. And as we stroll from the street to the slick floors of the office lobby, the outsole's crushed cord material prevents slips from slowing us down.

Beware Beckman Speed Hook, Cigar and Black Cherry

I recently purchased the Beckman in all 3 colors. The previous reviews are accurate: the speed hook rivets are not properly installed. The attached photo shows the Cigar after one day of indoor use. Be prepared to either take them to a cobbler or buy the tool to set them properly. You'll need some boot polish, too, to cover up the damage. The black ones do not appear to have this issue. Other than that, the toe box is sleeker than the prior version of the Beckman so be prepared for less wiggle room for your toes. I do expect them to loosen up with wear. The mini Vibram lugs have been replaced with an octopus suction cup design, it seems to be okay but I think there will be less traction for Winter weather.

Solid boot!

Just wanted to give a shout to Red Wing for producing the best work boot on the market. Always blown away at how indestructible these boots are. I also just wanted to give a little push back regarding the tongue/eyelets/etc. showing "issues". I have several pair of Red Wing that I've purchased over the last 20 years. While there may be a minor issue here or there, the overall structure and integrity of the product has never let me down. I'd also add that Red Wing has always corrected any issue I've ever had. I'm a self employed GC and have put these through hard use year after year. The Ranger, Moc, and Beckman, I've tried just about all of them. I'm getting tired of reading "the eyelet is sharp", "the leather creases", Really!? I get the feeling some folks are more interested in trends than actually using these boots for what they're designed for; work. I actually enjoy all the battle scars these are able to sustain and keep going year after year. Red Wings are the Sherman tank of work wear. If you're looking to keep your boots free of creases as they're tucked up under your cozy office chair, switch to penny loafers or oxfords. If you want to look good no matter how physically demanding your line of work is, buy Red Wings. And start bragging about every little nick and ding (and yes, every little hole in your tongue). I know I do. Customer for life. Don't change a thing.

Solid!

Was suprised just how solid of a boot this is. Nice and heavy. Super thick leather. Nice but tough. I dig the lower toe box. I’m in between sizes and I think if I had gotten the blacksmith in my larger size the toe box would have been too much but with the beckman it’s perfect. Not worried about the speed hooks. My iron rangers are 5 years old and the tounge is fine

Owned these boots 12 years. Still awesome

I bought the cherry Beckman, then bought the black ones, both about 12 years ago. I bought them because I wanted quality hand crafted footwear made in America. The boots only get better with age. I’m so impressed with the quality and workmanship of the Red Wing product. I highly recommend adding this boot to your wardrobe, and ideally 2 pair. The longevity and utility of this boot easily justifies the price in my opinion.

Great Boots, Lower profile toe than IR

I wanted something more dressy than my Iron Rangers, with a lower toe profile. These boots hit the mark. The black cherry looks great and, in my opinion, better in person than in the pictures on the site. I've gotten quite a few compliments. Very versatile color. I ordered true to size (1/2 size larger than my Iron Rangers) and they seem to fit well. I'm not having issues (mentioned in other reviews) with the speed hooks damaging the tongue. There are some light scuffs on the tongue that are to be expected, but not causing excessive damage or wear. The back of my speed hooks feel relatively smooth to the touch. I like Red Wing heritage boots, but I'm not against purchasing another brand. I looked at other similarly designed options from other brands, but did not find another USA Made boot of this quality at this price point.

Love them so much, I bought all 3 colors

I bought the first pair in August, after a little break in period they were very comfortable, and I got a lot of compliments on them. So I went and bought the Black and Cigar as well. The tongue on the Cigar and Black Cherry shows some light scuffing from the speed hooks, but that is to be expected. The Black pair shows none, probably because the leather is color correct all the way through. Word the the wise, the Black pair was significantly harder to break in, and the Cigar was the easiest. It look about 3 times as long to break in the Black pair vs. the Cigar, and still significantly longer than the Black Cherry.

Backcountry is the only site where I could find any kind of discount on Red Wings. These are exactly what my son-in-law wanted. He is over the moon with them.

Classic and elegant styling, quality product

I have had them for 2 months, I don't want to mess them up because I like them so much so I only wear them maybe once a week whenever I'm dressing up and don't have to work

Very nice heritage boot

I purchased these boots following a recent purchase of Iron Rangers, and in response to all hype following Beckman re-release in September of 2024. These are definitely more refined, although I would not call them dressy by any means. Cherry Excalibur leather reminds me Horween color#8 in appearance and feel. I plan on wearing these with slimmer fitting jeans in casual and business casual settings. Sizing had me worried a bit, as I had no experience with RW 224 last. However, I was lucky to have been able to try on a pair of Beckman in size 9D (1/2 size down from my Brannock size 9.5D) at a local RW store, which I found to be a tad bit roomy with noticeable heel slip.. it wasn’t uncomfortable to where I couldn’t see myself wearing them, however, I own enough boots at this point in different brands to know to not settle for good enough, especially when considering the price tag that goes with them. In Iron Rangers I wear 8.5D which is a full size down from my Brannock size, which I credit to having lower volume, narrower feet. I ended up ordering 8.5D from Backcountry and they provide me the “comfortable snug” feel. Looking forward to breaking these in and enjoying them for many years to come!
