I've wanted these boots for so long!
Ended up going on a trip to NYC after getting the books and walked 10+ miles comfortably (one blister but that's the price of breaking them in). I did have to go with the wide option which I've never had to do before. So glad I finally purchased these!

Mocha Silversmith—beautiful color, great boot
I first bought these boots in November 2023, and carefully broke them in (walked a total of 20 miles!) before a trip to Spain and Portugal. They did take time to break in, but they were perfect on the trip when I was in my feet all day. The tongue did have a tendency to fold over initially, but that changed as the boot softened and broke in. I also noticed damage from the inside of the eyelets on the tongue, like another reviewer, and red wing replaced the boots in January. This time I took matters into my own hands and made sure the eyelets were pressed in fully (just needed a hammer and a piece of wood with a hole drilled in it). I’ve had these ones since January and just conditioned them with leather cream. They didn’t darken at all. They look awesome and get lots of compliments. The mocha is so light that it shows wear and tear—but in a really cool way. I have the Clara’s in black and those are older but look newer—these mocha ones are just a more sensitive leather. But I like that effect!

Color is deceiving in pictures
Many reviewers said the copper/red doesn’t come through in pictures. It is hard to tell, but out of the box these are a beautiful dark orange or even purple color. The copper started to change and streak as soon as I put my feet in them. I was on the fence about keeping these after I bought them because they were kind of an impulse buy, but now after seeing them I cannot send them back. It’s my second pair of Silversmiths so I already know they will fit beautifully once they’re broken in. Keep making gorgeous boots Red Wing!

Lovely minimalist classic

These boots are beautiful and well made. I went with my instincts and experience wearing all leather boots and ordered my usual size 8. Many people suggested sizing up half size, but I just hate doing that and trusted that the boot would break in. They were extremely tight and uncomfortable for 2 weeks. I conditioned the leather, wore thick socks and wore them thru the pain. They have now perfectly molded to my foot with no tightness or rubbing. The mocha color is beautiful too. They are simple boots with no over thought "tech" which is my preference. My only critique is that the cork insole could have been a teeny bit wider. I occasionally feel the edges. Otherwise perfection

Really comfy!
Absolutely gorgeous! First time buying Red Wings, these are honestly so much more comfortable than I expected for new shoes. They definitely do run slightly narrow so going up half a size is a good idea.

Great boot!
I don’t know why people would put a bad review on these boots other than that they’re impossible to please! These boots are amazing and I love how rustic they look. They don’t take long to break in either.

practical and beautiful
I get compliments on these boots constantly! I was looking for a replacement/upgrade for my old Laredo lace-up riding boots, and these had the speed hooks and height I needed. They're like combat boots meets riding boots -- stylish and durable and extremely high quality. I just added my fringe kilties, and they're perfection!

Love These Boots!
I bought these boots last spring and when they came I was so disappointed! I wear a 10 regular in shoes/boots. After reading reviews, people said to size up a half size since they run very narrow. However, they don't come in a 10.5 and I knew 11 would be too long. I ordered the 10, and I could barely get my foot in, they are soooo narrow! I wanted them to fit so bad, they are a beautiful boot! Well, luckily we have a cobbler not too far from us, I took them in, had them stretched, and less than 2 days later I had boots that fit! It took another 2 weeks or so of break in and ever since they get better and better. With jeans, and even in the summer with dresses. You get what you pay for and these boots are no exception! Love Love Love!!

Great Quality & Wardrobe Staple
1 year and counting! These are a wardrobe staple in winter for me. It took a while to break them in but now I wear them most days all day to work and on long walks with my GSD. I highly recommend trying on in the store for the experience because the clerks are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the brand and how their boots should fit. I chose to size-up because I have a wide foot and I typically do that for boots. 7 to an 8. There is no heel slippage even after break-in which I was originally nervous about with sizing up. Very good quality so I am glad I chose Red Wing for my everything boots! Also... with wide feet, I too, have felt my toes hang slightly over the edge of the inner sole.... but I know that the inner sole is made of cork and intended to change with wear... to mold to my foot. The initial gap I felt is filling out over time as the boot breaks in *everywhere* I don’t think that is a manufacturing issue like someone else had said.
