The Rene Herse Fleecer Ridge TC was developed for the most demanding mixed-surface bikepacking routes, and the tread design reflects that origin: large, strategically placed knobs deliver off-road grip while the world's first noise-cancelling tire tread keeps rolling resistance low enough to cover pavement miles without penalty. At 700x55, it sits in the overlap between a capable gravel tire and a light mountain bike tire, making it the right call for loaded routes where the surface changes without warning and stopping to swap tires is not an option.
