Why We Like The Batwing Awning
Sunny summits are enough to send us into nap mode for the rest of the day, but we're not about to conk out in some equally punishing sun. If you need a relaxing patch of shade on your next car-camping adventures then hook yourself up with the Rhino-Rack Batwing Awning. This easily-deployable rooftop awning delivers 270 degrees worth of protection on hot and sunny days, and gives a whopping 118 square foot of spacious shade to let you nap, cook, and relax in. The awning's material also boasts UV protection and water-shedding PU coating to give you refuge from whatever Mother Nature decides to send your way. The entire awning, including the legs, straps, and pegs, fits inside the storage bag, and deploys easily without ever touching the ground. It also can stay securely strapped to the side of your roof rack between trips, ensuring that it's always ready to go without sacrificing storage space up top.

Ordered this a while ago, and found that I was missing the brackets to install the rack onto a RhinoRack roof rack. But I did not need the brackets because I'm doing a custom installation onto racks on a teardrop camper.

Best value
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
I’ve used this awning on my SUV over the past 3 years and have concluded it is a good value. At first I was disappointed in how easily the plastic connections would break at the spindle if the awning was unsecured and picked up by the wind. However, it is an easy fix and I keep extra parts in the rope bag. I also secure it down with lines and stakes and it does well with moderate wind gusts. The coverage is ample and it is light enough I can install or take it off by myself. What sets this awning apart from others is that it can be integrated to an OZ tent as well as wall panels and overhead extensions. I have another 270 degree awning that I can do pull-ups on without down poles but I still tend to use the batwing more often as it is simply more multifunctional.

Missing parts
Opened up the awning to put it in the rack two days before my trip to see that the brackets were missing and some other small parts. Disappointing to say the least.
