Livewire Shoe
When it comes to the weekend, you're not one to waste time fussing over your shoe choice for the day's activities. Instead, you want a shoe that can do everything, like the Ride Concepts Livewire Shoe. This street-styled shoe can seamlessly move from a backyard BBQ to burly DH lines, thanks to their tough-as-nails construction. They feature durable, synthetic uppers with anti-abrasion mesh that hold up to rocks and stray branches, and tacky DST 6.0 rubber that grips your pedals firm to keep your stance solid when the trail gets a little hairy ahead of you. To keep you protected, Ride Concepts builds the Livewire with custom molded toe and heel guards, while a fully gusseted tongue shields you from intake of debris. And because you want to ride in comfort, even when you take a drop to flat, the Livewire shoes are equipped with both an EVA midsole, and a D30 High Impact Zone Insole to take up some serious shock absorption.

Terrible
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I've been wearing RC Wildcats exclusively for YEARS and absolutely love them. Decided to switch things up and try these... they are really comfy and look nice, but are probably the worst mtb shoes I've ever had. Literally no grip, my feet are constantly boucing off the pedals. Birkenstocks would be a better riding shoe comared to these. I have never had this issue with Ride Concepts before, wondering if they changed their sole or something. So disappointing.

I wanted to love these shoes but....

I wanted to love the shoes but they just don't work the way I hoped! Internally, they're more supportive, shoe hugs the foot and snugs up in all the right places. When I tried stepping on my bike to pedal around, my foot slips off the pedal, multiple times. Shocker. I've used flats for years and never had a slip issue with Five Ten. On closer inspection, comparing the sole material between RC and FiveTen you might notice subtle differences in the materials and pattern. Five Ten's sole has a much stiffer rubber sole, the circles are tighter together and grippier than the RC. RC's has bigger gaps between their octagon shape sole nubs and they don't protrude much. I went back and for a few minutes try one foot with Five Ten and the other with RC. RC kept slipping. For that reason, had to return and go back to Five Ten. They run slightly small but also due to lots of internal padding and contouring.
