Why We Like The Tallac Clip BOA Mountain Bike Shoe
The Tallac Clip BOA Mountain Bike boasts a rugged construction for crushing New-England style single-track and grueling enduro ascents. With security and comfort found from every corner of its enhanced design, we're surprised to find that the BOA Fit System is only the start of what this advanced shoe has to offer.
For starters, RC lengthened the runway of the 2-bolt clip, making it easier to engage our pedals and let us go at a moment's notice. A PowerDrive nylon shank bolsters the EVA midsole, so that lack of power is never a worry when facing a steep ascent. High-energy rides come with some heat, but the Tallac's light and hearty Cordura fabric, overlayed with even stronger TPU film, ensures fresh air can always get in and cool off the feet. And whereas we trust our bikes' suspension to do its part, we can rely doubly on the D30 insole to be the first line of defense when it comes to big drops, absorbing energy and lessening fatigue overall.

Great shoe, cleat not fully recessed
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 9
I bought this shoe for the boa-velcro closure combo. I have high arches (a high volume foot), so the single boa shoes don't work for me. I use this shoe as a commuter shoe (15 miles each way) a couple of times a week on a Niner RLT RDO and just wear them all day at work. I like a stiff shoe, so wearing them all day at work is not a problem for me. What is a problem, is that Ride Concepts told me the spd cleat would be fully recessed. Well, if you stuff it all the way to the back of the cleat track it is, but I like mine about in the middle, which on these shoes makes the cleat just slightly proud = clicking on the floor if you do anything other than walking in a straight line.
