Great Sturdy Rack

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I was pretty disappointed that it showed up chipped. Seemed to be packaged well and the package itself wasn’t damaged. The powdercoat was chipped in multiple spots though. Really a bummer when you’re paying this much for a rack. That aside the function has been great. It’s sturdy. I have no doubts my bikes will make it to the destination on this rack. Assembly was a breeze. I really like that there is no frame contact. It fits a 24 tundra well and swings out of the way of the tailgate to access the bed. Overall very happy with it but wish QC with the paint was better.

Cool Idea Missed

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

I bought this rack over the Kuat Piston, and One Up. Though I did by the One Up single rack for every day use. Unfortunately I chose this one for the swing out feature and the one handed lock tab. use works great however the swing mechanism is almost useless if you were using it anything other campsite camping. It’s to dang difficult to screw it back in with any weight at all on it. So if your planning on just heading out to the trail head or ride start and getting it out of the way of your tailgate regularly you can hang it up. You have to literally lay on the ground and maneuver the rack around to get the threaded screw to line up… there’s literally barely any pilot shaft on the screw to help you. Total bummer. I would trade this rack in a second for the standard guide rail. Save you money and do the same and get the guide rail. Great idea not the best implementation. Bummer is I have already owned it for over a year hoping to give some time to work it. Rocky Mounts even said that’s just kind of how it is and try to hold it slightly to the right? Maybe they should’ve made right I thought….hmmm? Keep in mind the rest of the rack is fantastic. But the guide and the Kuat swing out and you will have a much more functional setup. For about the same price though it will stick out a little further. But it will work as hoped….:)

A Wobbly Mess

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Don't let the shiny blue anodized parts give you the impression this is a quality product and (mostly copied) design. When I first unpacked the boxes labeled China I couldn't help think how expensive this product is compared to some of the others manufactured here in the US. Were talking about a rack that is $1100 here folks so it is natural to have high expectations. I've had the rack a few months and feel pretty confident it is not fit for purpose. It's a wobbly and rusting mess and I do not trust it with my bikes that are within the weight specifications. I even have a problem with my non-ebikes surprisingly. There is play at the interface for the extension, play at the interface for the tilting lock, and the trays shake wildly driving down the road. I contacted support where they were fairly quick to respond and agreed the movement looks more than expected and had me torque everything and, after a week or two of back-and-forth, basically said, "yeah, looks like that's just how your rack is" even after saying they thought the movement was excessive. I had to craft a door protector due to the amount of rocking the bikes experience going down the highway to prevent dents from my bars. It's probably a foot away from the door but can still make contact when the bikes start oscillating. My colleague has a 1up and I've had the Thule side arm style and neither has the amount of movement this disappointment has. I was really surprised by my experience given the questionably positive reviews. Watch the video and see for yourself. It's scary to watch the bikes swaying going down the highway in my rear camera.

Lightest swing away rack on the market

Familiarity:
I've used it several times

Lightest swing away out there because it is in integral with the rack. Holds two ebikes well. Still need to test it with light off roading but pretty sure it will be up to the task. I also easily modified a Yakima bike ramp to hook on to it for my ebike for ease of getting it on the platform.

Amazing rack!

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Amazing rack and very high quality materials used throughout (no plastic in sight and all metal contruction). The swing away feature is super easy to use even when bikes are loaded down. And the dual ratcheting arms are the best in the biz (better and much easier to use than my old 1UP USA model). I can only see one downside and that's the price. Expecting this to last through many many seasons of use.
