Poor wuality
The older rucksack was a lot better quality. I’ve already had to return one of these as the seam split within first few wears and on the replacement, the writing has worn off. My partner and I have had multiple running backpacks in various sizes over the years and the quality of the Salomon products seems to have drastically declined. Such a shame.

Love it
This is the first running pack that I've gotten that I actually like! It has plenty of storage and the water flasks are very nice. The only thing I don't like is that the material at the back of the neck is a little scratchy while running. That's a pretty easy fix though and the tradeoff for storage and comfort of the rest of the pack is well worth it!

Old old version much better
I have am adv skin 5 from about 5 years ago. Great pack but wanted to move up to a 12 for slightly more room in back. Ordered last year's 12l version, there's no smooth tape over seams around neck so just trying it on could feel I'd get chaffing. Then this new 2025 version releases, they'd smoothed the seams but they've removed the top pocket and the little trash bag and side pockets so they've completely ruined everything that was good about it. Salomon was the absolute best pack and now they've got rid of all the best bits that made it. Had to return both, just going to keep my old 5l version until they release a vest that's worth buying again.

Old version was better
This is just a downgraded version of the previous version of the adv skin 12. No stash pocket accessible from the top, no middle compartment on the inside. No small trash pocket on the front pockets. The ADV skin 12 was a great vest, but they ruined it. Glad I still have my old one. I want more pockets accessible on the go, not less! The stash pocket on the top was my favorite feature from the ADV Skin 12 and what made it so different from other vests. No it's just an average vest.

A Stripped Down Version
So, the good: 1) Its made well & the fit has improved. 2) Apparently its 50g lighter, but... The NOT so good (IMO) 1) The really handy pocket at the top of the bag that allows you to quickly access your waterproofs, well.. that's gone completely. 2) The really handy side panels that ran from the front to the rear of the pack, which allowed the ability to store & easily access items on the move, well... that's gone too. 3) The silver foil bladder insert... nowhere insight. 4) The large pocket that ran from the top of the bag to the bottom, and situated between the bladder insert and the main zipper storage pocket... yes you guessed it, gone. 5) A pocket, has been added on the inside of the main zip compartment. I tried putting my waterproof in it & then loading up my full UTMB winter race kit. Unfortunately, I found the jacket pressed uncomfortably in the middle of my back. Is it still the king of race vests? NO it's now bang-average I'm afraid (IMO). I sent mine back and purchased a 2024 model. Much happier.
