Salomon's newest hiking shoe is stacked with extra cushioning for a plush ride and with extra padding around the collar and tongue for more foot-hugging comfort. This shoe is built for comfort on long-distance hikes and features GORE-TEX waterproofing for soggy conditions and deep, 5mm lugs to tackle mixed terrain.

I want to like these…
I really liked the look of this shoe. I need a utility shoe for light hiking, schlepping kids and equipment to/from ski racing, etc. I ordered the same 11.5 as I wear in EVERY OTHER Salomon product (classic and skate Nordic boots, a dozen pairs of running shoes over the last decade…and the last just is not the same. These shoes are shorter and narrower/lower volume than every other Salomon product I’ve ever owned. Unfortunately, I hoped they would pack out or stretch a little or something, so I went ahead and wore them. But I sure wish I had swapped them for a 12. :(

absolute unit of a hiking shoe
I’ve only put about 30 miles on these, and they’re truly fantastic. Very durable under heavy weight and super lightweight at the same time. They were great out of the box. I just wish they came in wides :/

Really love these
I was skeptical because reviews were very mixed on these.. but I ended up loving them. I have a hard to fit foot and supinate (walk on the outside of my feet) so finding a shoe that works is tough. I work in research and new product development at a plant nursery, so I needed a good water proof shoe that was comfortable for long hours in the fields and green houses. These definitely fit the bill. I find myself picking these to wear more then any thing else.

Thickness cushion and traction
I'm mail carrier walking 35,000 steps daily Monday to Friday, look for good thickness cushion for my feet health and good sole traction for fall/spring. Little too big but not big deal and I will get half

Great Shoe

Too hot!
I have been wearing Salomon’s for over 25 years, one of my favorite brands. Comfortable fit and light, breathable and waterproof. This pair I bought through the website without trying them on. Mistake. My feet were uncomfortably hot, and for the first time my socks and the insoles had a sour smell after walking. I had to remove the insoles after each use and hand wash them. Not convenient while traveling abroad. I would not recommend this shoe for weather above freezing.

Good for long walks
This is my second pair of the same shoe type. I have bought it fearing that the older pair would give away after one year of use. Both are excellent. Comparing to other brands that I used before from other manufacturers, my sense is that Elixir Gore from Salomon is best.
