Why We Like The Salomon Elixier GORE-TEX Hiking Shoe
As great as Salomon hiking shoes are, they've never been known for their cushioning—until the Elixir GTX hiking shoe. New for 2023, the Elixir is packed with energyBOOST foam for a plush ride and plenty of energy return as we pound out mile after mile on our go-to trails. Like other Salomons, this shoe features an active chassis with the agility we need for fast-and-light hikes and the stability we need for the tougher terrain that taxes our feet and ankles. This max cushion hiking shoe is built for comfort on long-distance hikes and features GORE-TEX waterproofing for soggy trails and Contragrip traction to tackle technical terrain.

Great look
I wasn’t a fan at first, but once I pared them with an outfit and felt the comfort of the shoe, I changed my mind. The shoes are great

Comfortable, waterproof, cool
True to size. The toe box is very wide and I appreciate that it allows room for thick socks/swelling. Waterproof although I don't know if I would purposefully splash in puddles. I use them for light hiking and a daily driver in a rainy city (soccer games, etc) and I love that their height also means your pants stay away from puddles too.

Not the one
Wore to work to see how comfortable it is before taking it out on terrain. Good thing I did because my feet hurt, and felt tired after 4 hours. Wouldn’t want to be on a hiking trail feeling that uncomfortable. Not the best purchase I made this year.

Winter sneaker?
I like these sneakers because they are water proof/resistent and a bit warmer than my running sneakers. They do really well on slippery surfaces. They are comfortable but I was hoping for more cushion to be able to go for miles. The shoe is stiff but it’s not an issue for me. They look good too.

Wore these on a recent trip to China that involved about 10 miles of walking everyday in below freezing weather. I was quite pleased that my feet stayed toasty and dry. These shoes performed as well as any running shoe I’ve ever worn as far as comfort. I am normally wear a size 7.5. With Salomon’s I always wear a sz 7. This one is no different.

Replacement pair
These were a replacement for another style as they were leaking. My left foot soaking wet every time I wear them in the wet. Never buying another pair of Salomon’s again Don’t think the quality of make is up to standard anymore, made all over the world. Very poor

More colors!!
I have these and they are amazing however once the stitching is dirty it’s hard to get clean, with they did an all black version, would be more practical.

Super comfy and supportive
I bought these a few months ago and wore them hiking in Colorado. The size was perfect and they were so well cushioned and comfy. They were my 2nd pair of Salomons and I would purchase them again.

Very comfortable from day one.
I’ve had these for a couple of months now, and wanted to test them properly before reviewing them. They have been very comfortable from day one, with no breaking in required. They look more like trainers on steroids than hiking shoes, but they give great support. I’m a size UK 7.5, and I purchased a UK 8. This is a good fit with a pair of padded sports socks. The sole design makes them strangely easy to walk in and the back/heel area is well shaped - my heel doesn’t move at all. The insole is very supportive and so far they are pretty waterproof. Overall I’m really pleased with them. There are a couple of slight negatives - They are a narrow fit compared to other Salomons I have (I thought they might loosen up, but they haven’t yet) and they need to have a fully dark version. I have the darker carbon/blue Pearl/flint colour but the light bit totally lost the first battle with a muddy puddle! If you don’t have wide feet and you aren’t precious about keeping the light bits pristine I’d definitely recommend them. I would buy them again. Salomon please make them in a darker colour way though!
