I'm in my mid-sixties, fit, an active hiker, but have some disc compression. My spine doesn't have the spring it had in my 20's & 30's when I was doing lots of mountaineering, climbing, and off trail backpacking. I specifically wanted a boot with lots of cushioning and shock absorption, but still relatively light, and that provided moderate ankle support, and waterproof. This fits the bill perfectly. Incredibly comfortable right out of the box and the rocker sole provides nice forward momentum. Traction is good and ankle support is enough for light backpacking. I've hiked on some steep rocky and muddy terrain, and they feel very secure. I can't attest to the waterproofness yet, but it will be tested in Alaska this coming summer. They seem well constructed. So if you want these things from a boot, this is a good choice. If you've looking for something for class 3-4 rock, and heavy off trail technical backpacking, this boot is not designed for that, but with so many types of boots to choose from - you can have multiple pairs.
