Extremes Ready
I purchased these for a recent 9 day birding trip to northern Minnesota, where temperatures ranged from -23°F to 18°F and they did not disappoint. Not only was the comfort and fit as good as my other Salomons, but they kept my feet warm and dry for the duration.

Not great out of the box, but okay to good now
I have worn Salomon for a lot over the past 10 years or so; boots for hiking and backpacking, road shoes for runs in town, trail shoes for ultras in the mountains. This was the first pair of Salomon footwear that out of the box I almost immediately wished I could return. The seam where the toe cap’s tan and black section meets the outside mid foot section creates an awful pinch point that was crushing my foot just behind the pinky toe. More awkwardly than that, the insert that came with the boot was awful. They were shaped in such a wave that they promoted a ton of pronation which was horrible and in turn raised my foot more on the outside making the previously mentioned pinch point much worse. Since I couldn’t return these I swapped the original insert for a Superfeet one and they’re now wearable. I don’t feel the awkward pronation and the pinch point seems to no longer be an issue since my foot is no longer raised as much toward the outside of the boot. The pinching may have gone away with more miles and the boot breaking in more, but without removing the original insert I likely would have given up. TBD how well these hold up but from a brand I have traditionally had no issues with, I can only hope this was a one off and these boots aren’t all shipping with the same awkward insert. All that being said, I’d say they’re an okay boot and hopefully I consider them good after some more time in them. I’ve never had to buy inserts for any other pair of shoes. For sizing, I followed most other recommendations for going up a half size and feel that was the correct move. For all my Salomon shoes I wear a 10 but these are a 10.5 for me. I don’t wear super thick socks, generally Smartwool phd hikers or similar. If you wear super bulky wool socks in the winter you’ll need to go up more but these boots are fairly warm on their own.

Replacement shoe
This was a replacement shoe for a defective pair of hiking shoes. I needed something for winter, so these fit the bill. I bought a one-half size larger based on my experience with my other Salomon shoe. Fits well and is perfect for my need. The colour of the shoe does not match the photo. The actual colour is a light shade; more yellow than brown.

Very nice, maybe ½ short
Really comfortable and warm, i ordered 11.5, it felt a little tight since i wear thicker socks for winter... so i've just ordered 12 for a better fit! I'd recommend getting .5 bigger than usual fit!

I bought these about 2 months ago. Super warm and dry. I would recommend one size up like all my Salomons

I really like the boot and the light weight..
I bought the Outchil as a winter boot to fish in the cooler weather. Great product. Light weight. The toe box was a little tighter than the 4WD boots that I routinely wear. I recommend upsizing 1/2 to 1 full size.

Comfortable fit on wide-ish feet.
Nice looking boots, and fit my quite wide feet nicely. The loop at the back helps pull them on, but is a bit bigger than ideal. They are indeed fairly warm, but I haven't yet got to test properly their waterproofness - and importantly, whether they remain waterproof after a few months.
