Why We Like The Salomon QST X Ski
For a smooth ride in deep conditions, we bring out Salomon's QST X Ski. The wide 116mm waist and twin tips have us floating high, while full-length sidewalls and injected ABS underfoot ensure we can hold an edge when we hit hardpack. Constructed with a karuba/poplar core and cork damplifiers, these sticks give us stability at speed and energy on features without talking back.

Qst x
Well built and hard charger. I feel the recommendation for the mount is a bit too far forward. But in untouched powder this thing will do everything with style.

Finally, a real pow ski
Honestly hard to compare this ski to blank, different tools for different settings. What a refreshing taste of a real powder ski that is definitely light enough for the up that will leave you more than pleased on the way back down (thank you solomon, I love you). These things want soft snow like a heat seeking missile. The Karuba/poplar blended core seems to push through and get up and over variable snow without issue. Understand that the ski wants to be in sustained untracked snow with equal ability to make large open turns and quick, slashy, surfy turns on the flip of a switch. This ski has lots of pop, for freeride skiers this ski would be a ton of fun as a dedicated pow ski, landing also felt freakishly good and solid given the stated weight and construction. You guys knocked this one out of the park, cheers!

This ski is a total pow weapon!!!
Having a longer radius than its cousin, the QST X picks up where the QST Blank left off! A little wider, more of a damp forgiving feel, and a longer turn radius give this ski an incredible feel in deep snow. I was able to drift and pivot the ski with ease and float through some really deep snow. When I skied into more varied snow conditions the longer radius really helped make for a more comfortable ride. Both the Blank and the X are amazing powder skis, but in my opinion the X is more specific in being a total deep snow slayer! Ps my wife skis the 178cm and absolutely loves it!

Playful, forgiving, and there when you need it.
I had the opportunity to demo this ski in Crested Butte during some fresh and choppy conditions. The X feels like the playful slarvy brother of the QST Blank. I found the Blank a little directional for my style and this ski played more to my preferences. It has a lower swing weight and more forgiveness than the Blank, this comes at the cost of some dampness, drive-ability, and edge hold. It also vaguely reminded me of a heavier, more charg-y, Bent Chetler 120. Would be a great daily driver for a primarily playful creative skier who also likes to charge and lives in a high snow zone.

Coulda been better
The QST X has been such a let down. I was hoping for would be a more twin shaped wider Blank with that carbon to stiffen it a bit for big drops. It’s not, it’s just a wider 106, the ski feels lifeless and bland. The tip and tale chatter but the waist is so stiff you can’t actually use the tips on anything other than 2 feet of snow. The ski doesn’t want to turn. I am just going to mount a pin binding and use it for bowl skiing.

Bummer isn't made in 171cm like the old model
Claims unisex but not many women ride a 178cm ski.
