Why We Like The Quest Element GTX Hiking Boot
With the featherweight construction of a running shoe and the rugged stabilization of a hiking boot, the Quest Element GTX gets us further faster. The taller shaft and leather build barrel through rock and brush, while the patented chassis technology keeps our ankles tracking as if we were sauntering along smooth, solid ground. Armored with an airy GORE-TEX membrane, this pair stops water and sweat from soaking our socks through as we cross creeks and huff up steeps.

Comfortable but lacking workmanship
I love Solomon boots. I have worn all types of cross trainers and boots for hiking especially purchasing ones with waterproofing. I have found that Solomon has decreased in quality of workmanship and waterproofing. Although I love these boots and bought in April 2023 (on sale) I just started wearing them in September of 2024. After each hike, I washed them (with just water) to make sure all dirt was off seams, dried with a towel. The front toe kick part , where the rubber is glued to the leather is already showing signs of breaking apart. This is really a disappointment as my previous Solomon would last for years! What is happening to this great shoe company? I will have to do a return on these awesome boots. I like the look and feel, they give great ankle support and are somewhat waterproof. Not totally waterproof as water is penetrating through their gore Tex liner. I would be careful about ordering this Boot if you expect high quality products .

Not my favorite
This is my 6th pair of Salomon fit and finish not as nice as any of my previous pairs. Always order size 11 and usually fit like a glove these are lose all around my foot and if you try to tighten with shoe laces they bunch up and look ill fitted . I should have sent back right away but gave them a week to see if they would feel better upon a break in period . they did not so pretty disappointed to say the least

New boots!

My feet apparently have gotten larger and my Scarpas are now too short. My new Salamon Quest Elements are lighter, supportive and with plenty of width in the toes. The soles give good traction and protection.

I love these.
I take very good care of my Quests, have put close to 1000kms on these babies. Those soles have held up well but are now almost worn flat. My only complaint is that they're not quite wide enough for my feet. Can these be re-soled?

Reliable boots in the thick of winter
These are marketed as a hiking boot, but I use them as winter boots. My climate ranges from extremely slushy to icy in a matter of hours, and these boots provide the stability and grip that I need for my 5km daily commute. A little bit of a hassle to put on and take off compared to my blundstones, but the trade off in terms of quality is well worth it.

Best Salomon boot for work
Ive been wearing the Salomon Ultra Treks but for unknown reasons they are not sold in the U.S anymore or for the time being. The Elements are a great second options. They are very light compared to the Forces options and comfortable while providing awesome stability and ankle protection. I ordered the black/olive color and they look great. Wish they had a black on black options but not a big deal. Hiking around on these boots as my daily work boot really saves my feet from fatigue and wear. When i have to run in them they are light enough to not affect my speed or stride. I in my early 40's and had knee surgery a couple years ago so the cushion on these elements are perfect relief from the shock cause slips, running, hops down a mountain. I have recommended these to various coworkers and they love them too. At the end of a long work day the comfort makes a difference and alleviates fatigue compared to other name brands such as Lowas. Merrell srongfileds are okay but they are heavy like brinks. My work terrain is so harsh that these boots usually last me from 6-8 months before the break down. Breakdown areas for me are always on the inside of the boot towards the rear. The stitching comes apart and the elements start making its way in. But overall, best boot I have. Along with the Ultra Trek amd boot the Quest prime which i believe these elements are an update to as well as various Forces from mids tops to the very expensive models. I think ill stick to these until the X- Ultra trek comes back. Those are awesome and although high tops they feel like running shoes. True to size I would say. I always go 1/2 size bigger because I double up socks. I get blisters from so much hiking and running.

Replacing a pair of Solomon quest bought these about a month ago happy so far they are wet almost daily. No leaks so far fairly comfortable. I would give them at least a day or 10 mile break in. Before I did a serious hike in them.
