Feels like a sock, light and fast
This shoe fits & feels like a sock. A bit tight to put on, but once your foot is in, it's an amazing sensation of the shoes being wrapped around your foot, providing a great connection with the terrain. Combined with the light weight, it gives a great boost of confidence that you can and will go fast. On the flip side, it feels less cushioned than other competitive products out there. However, with those alternatives, you always lose that connection with the terrain, that makes the S/LAB ULTRA 3 feel so sharp. The grip is good - at least on dry surfaces. I am a heavy pronator, and I found the stability very good, definitely one of the best among all trail running shoes. One detail that could be improved: I find that the little pocket for the laces extends a bit too low, which causes the laces to actually run over the pocket when you tighten them. That makes the access to the pocket a bit tricky. Other than that,... I am in love. Cannot wait to clock days of running in the Alps this summer with the ULTRA 3

Best all-around trail shoe
I purchased the shoe for my wife about a month ago. She’s raved about it ever since. She really enjoys the comfort, traction and the shoes low weight. I’ll be purchasing a pair for myself in the near future!

Fast, stable ride , with some limitations
I found this shoe to be a dream for fast moving on technical trails. As you’ll read repeatedly, great lockdown in heel, foot won’t move inside shoe. But— 1. After 30 miles, 50K of such terrain my feet were bruised just from the distance. Some result with two attempts, one training and one racing. There is not a lot of cushion here. 2. S-lab ultra 3 were sure-footed and impeccably stable in dry (but still highly technical terrain). 75 miles on them, still good. Then I tried in soaking wet, mud and wet rock conditions. On wet rock, (which is always dangerous) I was surprised at how many times the contra grip outsoles let me down (7x). If your feet are young and can take a beating, you may find cushioning adequate over the longest distances. I found these shoes very useful for a fast 30 miles, and changed them after that. Although the upper and sidewalls are minimal , shoes protected feet, but not from the pounding underfoot. I can also say that while they get soaked easily, these shoes drain well enough. I just wouldn’t use in wet conditions and definitely NOT on wet rock. Maybe also because these are meant for speed and speed on wet rock is a dangerous game.

Very tight entrance
Don’t work for people with regular or high arch. Tight entrance seam to work only for people with pencil thin feet, otherwise it is a strangle to put them on. Ones on, great fit. Would buy if can accommodate normal/arch feet.

Responsive shoes
I’ve used these for a few trail runs in a mixture of rocky and sandy terrain. They feel super responsive and fit like a glove, the toe box feels a bit bulky to me. I do a bit of scrambling with my trail runs and they felt a bit slippery for the task, oddly enough I feel like the XT-6s perform better at scrambling although they are considered “lifestyle” shoes. True to size when compared to the XT-6s.

So fast!
This shoe feels light on the feet without sacrificing stability or comfort. The cushion could be light for some runners if they are looking to be on there feet for extended time. The colorway options are limited too but Overall a great shoe!

Easily my favorite trail shoes ever
While my day to day training trail shoe is the Speedcross 5, this S-lab Ultra 3 is my go-to for days when I want to go fast, or long. I have about 200 miles on them, and plan to wear them for another 100 before I buy a new pair. They are as comfortable as you could hope for. They are light. They feel fast, almost like a racing shoe. They have an awesome collar around the foot opening that prevents dirt, rocks, snow from getting inside. While not quite as protective, or as grippy, as the Speedcross 5, they have a decent rock plate and good enough protection that I don't need to be too careful about my footing. If I could only have one shoe option, I would probably go with these.

Warning: The soles wear down horrificly fast!
I barely use them - uppers perfect, some lugs at zero. Expected more as I'm serial salomon inc hiking boots.
