We're not camels, but the Salomon Soft Reservoir helps us store water like one when we're out there running and hiking. Available in either a 1.5 or 2-liter size, each reservoir shrinks as we drink, minimizing bounce and maximizing our pack space as we conquer the trail.

Water bladder vs soft bottle

I usually use soft bottles for long runs, you can see how much is left in them and easier to get to for refilling on the go. However I wanted to trial using both for solo attempt at ultra distances. It is a good water reservoir, no leaks and tough, hose long enough to route anywhere and holds a good volume. Did seem to ‘slosh’ around when only filled half full (I did try taking the air out by taking multiple sips!? Maybe I’m going wrong somewhere) It is useful although refilling on the go is less easy when using in a running pack, so think I’ll only ever use either in conjunction with a soft bottle on those hot days when carrying additional water is necessary, or running a distance where refilling is not required.

Pin Hole Leak

After 6 months the reservoir developed a leak. I have an ultramarathon in a few days so I’m glad it happened now. Salomon doesn’t handle the warranty for this reservoir.

Leaks from back of top seal

Leaks from back of top seal, couldn't use for my hiking trip. Didn't even get to use it once. Salomon's online warranty form redirects to Hydrapak's warranty submission page, not a fan of this. If Salomon is going to put their name on this product they should handle warranty claims directly.

It leaks

The reviews are accurate. You either get one that leaks or you don't. I got one that leaked. And that's a bummer. Also seeing the reviews that reaching out to support will basically not help anything is pretty disheartening

Perfect fit for ADV Skin 12

Fits great and the end of the hose sits at a great location for drinking due to where the elastic loop is located on the front of the ADV Skin 12. Great for extra hydration on your longer efforts. Also does not leak even when bent over which is clutch!

Only reservoir that fits correctly in the AdvSkin5

The reservoir itself is fine. The lack of directions (or suggestions) on how to route the hose on the Adv Skin 5 is terrible. Not obvious way to do it. Lots of trial and error needed. It would be nice to be able to buy an insulated hose. With sunny weather and temps above 80, the water in the clear (almost) clear hose heats up quickly and you end up drinking hot water all the way, even if you use the reflective sleeve for the reservoir and put ice in it.

Very well made

Bought this for a 25km trail run and it was perfect. More than enough liquid but not too heavy

Exactly what I was looking for.

Well made and works well with my vest, particularly with the bladder sleeve and the direction of the hose adapter.
