Why We Like The Salomon Thundercross GORE-TEX Trail Running Shoe

When the trail is wet and muddy, we cinch on the Salomon Thundercross GORE-TEX Trail Running Shoe for the day's miles. The breathable membrane stops muck and rain from seeping in, while the lacing cage hugs our midfoot to keep our feet locked over the platform. As we bound over rocks and stride through mud puddles, the generous stack of foam underfoot pads the ground and energizes our toe-offs for a flow-inducing ride. No matter what stands in our way, the sticky, well-spaced lugs solidify our footing and release debris throughout every stride to ensure biting traction with our every strike and push off.

Grip for the tech

I live in the PNW and run/hike in wet steep rocky rooty terrain. This shoe is cushioned enough to mold around wet roots and lock in the stride. The same goes for rocks; if the rock is not shiny, jump. I like a 8mm drop, but will take the 4mm with the rocker and comfort. They do have a super tacky sole and the toes are starting to look like a worned mountain bike tire, but the grip can't be compared. The Speedcross uppers and toe last forever but the lugs wear fast. I have 5 pair of Salomon but only wear these for trail running now.

Great shoe-

I've been wearing this for several weeks now, on and off road, and am happy with the support. I haven't tested the Gore-Tex...

Very bad quality GORE-TEX

Had them for one month, great looking shoes (Fiery Coral color), comfortable and pretty good grip in wet terrain. In one month I managed to get 170km with them, most of it running but also hiking. Lugs started to show some wear but they will be good for 800km more. BUT! I bought this shoes for wet days and I feel robbed. Gore tex is non existent on left shoe, right shoe holds water a little bit better, but it is also wet after 5km of walking in the rain. Left shoe has a pool of water in this distance. Very bad. Very disappointed, probably will not buy Salomon shoes again.

Comfortable shoe

I bought this a month ago and have worn it every day to walk in. It is very comfortable and more cushioning than most Salomon shoes. I will buy another pair. Wish there were more color options.

All day comfort and stability.

On my second pair of Goretex Thundercross shoes. Great stability and comfort that takes me from the trail to the outings with comfort and ease. Fit is spot on for my high arched feet.

Right shoe issues..

Super comfy straight out of the box - these are going to be good ones I thought! And they were, over 5km.. Over the last couple of weeks I've been building up the distances and time on-feet, only to notice discomfort in my right shoe. Now every time I run in them, these shoes leave a thin red line along the side of my right foot - seemingly from a seam inside the shoe. Weirdly its just on the right foot, irrespective of what socks I am wearing. Manufacturing issue?

Great for wide Feet

Purchased these for my teen son who has very wide feet with a high instep. He says they are comfortable to wear hiking and have great grip! They are a sturdy shoe and look good without looking like big blocks on your feet. They are a wider fit.

Reliable, Comfortable, and Ready to Rip

The ThunderCross is my choice for conquering Central Texas trails. Second pair in three years. Consistently providing comfort, support, and durability across rocky and root saturated trail runs. Provides the perfect balance of all-day wearability and support.

Lightweight, stable, and comfy!

I am a bigger fella so I have a hard time finding shoes that are stable, lightweight, and comfy when I am working out or hitting the trails and these shoes are perfect! I have had them for about a year and they are still running strong. I love Salomon and own six pairs of various models of their shoes and hiking boots.

Like standing on a cloud

I have owned several pair of Salomon shoes over the years, I believe these are the most cushioned sole yet, while they might have a soft cushioned foot bed, the lugged soles are nothing but business and offer great traction while pursing off the best track activities, but they are perfectly adaptable to a trip to the mall. The Gore-Tex uppers keep my feet dry, the quick lock lacing is fast and easy to use, even with a glove. I truly recommend these.
