Why We Like The Salomon Thundercross Trail Running Shoe
When covering long distances over technical terrain, we stride out in the Salomon Thundercross Trail Running Shoe. The thick stack of foam pads rock- and root-riddled sections, keeping our feet feeling fresh longer, while the deep, multi-directional lugs chew up loose dirt and sling mud as we go, ensuring every strike bites.

Favorite Shoe (maybe) Ever
I found the Thundercross after looking for a cushioned show with minimal drop that had a full one piece outsole. It seems other brands don’t have a full outsole and do this to save weight. I had a pair that had the outsole separate during a hike and left me with nothing but foam as traction for the remainder of the hike. The Thundercross fit well when first trying them on and with my favorite insole they were like a slipper before tightening the lace system. I can wear them “loose” in perfect comfort and minimal slipping. When tightened they are like a glove, no slipping anywhere. The tread is great. The foam is great. I’ve walked 30k steps around DC on concrete and backpacked 40 miles in 3 days in Glacier NP. Both use cases saw great traction and comfort. I also trail run, hike and hunt in the Thundercross. I likely have 200+ miles on my first pair and they have zero flaws in the upper, the rubber on the outsole is worn, but not much. I’ve purchased two more pairs. One is for rotating and the other is a backup incase Salomon makes changes to the design fit I don’t like.

Love these shoes
I bought these shoes for a 50K and these were awesome! Very confortable and responsive. True to size and very fun to run with. They were ready right out of the box. Very good shoes!

Solid Trail Runner with Room for Improvement
The Salomon Thundercross is a great trail running shoe with excellent grip and a comfortable ride. It handles technical terrain well, and the cushioning provides a good balance of comfort and stability, even on longer runs. The shoe feels durable and reliable, which is exactly what you’d expect from Salomon. That said, I wish the shoe had a bit more heel-to-toe drop. Additionally, the toe box feels a little too wide for my preference; a slightly narrower fit would give me a more secure and precise feel on technical trails. Overall, it’s a solid shoe that I enjoy, but these tweaks could make it even better for runners who prefer a snugger fit and more drop.

Returned them
I have had Speedcross runners for several years now and decided to check these out. They are really comfortable but they have less of a drop (only 4mm)! Did a short run in the office and warehouse and my knees were hurting! I did return the shoes as I am an "heel touch the ground first" runner where a greater drop (like the speedcross 6) is required. I suggest Salomon makes it more clear on their website that this has a low drop! Don't worry, I will keep buying Speedcross but just not the Thundercross

Great for wider feet!
Offers a bit more room than other Salomon shoes, comfy fit, bouncy ride with great control through the 5mm lugs, so in love with this shoe!

Strange fit
I wanted to love these however the fir is very different than what I tried on at the shop. They feel narrow just behind arch of my foot. Basically they are un wearable

Great fit
2 things I need in a hiking shoe. Good fit for my wide feet , which I usually don’t find in Solomon and Traction for hiking in Red Rick Country. This shoe has both

A very good trail shoe

A good looking very comfortable shoe to wear. Fit is true to size. Very light. Fairly aggressive tread. Arch support and cushioning are good. Would give 5 stars but I have not had them long enough to assess durability.

Great trail / grass shoe
This is my third pair of shoes with the same tread. It is comfortable and really good on the trails and hills. Once they start to wear out I use them for cutting grass. I have a hill in my yard and even when the soles are worn they still grip very well.
