Winter Cross Spike: Game Changer for Winter Run

I’ve only run 34K in the WINTER CROSS SPIKE across four runs, but these have already been a game changer for me. Living in a place with heavy snow, rain, and ice, my winter running routine has typically involved the treadmill, only running on streets when conditions were clear. The risk of slipping on ice kept me off the roads—until now. I’ve been eyeing these spikes for years, but every time I almost bought them, they’d sell out. This year, I finally pulled the trigger when the 2024 version came out, and I'm so glad I did. The grip is incredible, even on slush and random ice. Today, after a heavy snowfall that covered the slush and ice, the traction was amazing. That said, there’s still a small chance of slipping—just like with studded tires, they do have limits. But for the most part, I feel safe and confident running on winter trails. They're comfortable, true to size, and keep my feet warm and dry. My only challenge now is getting in and out of my house without damaging my wooden deck and steps!

Very comfortable winter shoe

Very comfortable as soon as you slip your feet in. The gaiter is high enough and it's soft and moves with you. The carbide spikes provide increased grip and it gives me confidence. The lugs are also pretty good on snowy surfaces.

Winter cross spike

This is my fourth pair of spike cross shoes. I live in Canmore Alberta. Our trails get extremely icy. No other winter shoes work as well.

Great in winter

These shoes are a must in the winter if you are an outdoor, all year runner. In the winter where snow and freezing and thawing makes the trail uneven, icy and slippery one feels as surefooted as can be in these shoes. They are water and windproof and keep your feet warm and dry. On tops of that they are great running shoes. I could not be happier with them.

Great traction and fit

These are everything I expected from Salomon! They fit great, and are really comfortable. The spikes are excellent on this leftover snow that’s been topped with freezing rains and a slow thaw. Our trails are sheets of chunky ice right now and, with the Cross Spike shoe, I was able to get out and run without issue. I love the high ankle collar to keep ice and debris out. Great touch! I recommend these shoes wholeheartedly. I feel the fit is true to size.

I've put it through the wringer

I live in Utah and trail run in the winter. I run up the side of a mountain in snow and ice. The grip on these shoes enables me to run on ice without slipping - it has metal spikes protruding from the bottom. Also, the outer covering prevents snow from coming into my shoes. These are a must if you want to run in snow or icy weather.

Confortable but fits large

Very comfy, but my usual size fits too big. Should have order 1/2 size smaller...

All the right features

This shoe fills the gap for winter training. With so much ice in this area, this shoe allows us to be out and off the treadmill. All the right features, cushion, grip, and element protection.
